GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Whilst the ordering system is used for may other Toyotas, it does seem that the GR86 has been singled out to be especially poor.

Saying that, the neighbours got a new Yaris the other week and they ordered that in January so it's not just the sports car end!

The one thing that "gets my goat" is the lack of communication from Toyota GB. Can't blame the dealers as they've often known less than us. Can't blame the online phone team as they haven't been given the info probably. It's the apparent no flippin clue that Toyota GB appear to have having no proper reason to either delay boat > Derby > Customer timescales or to delay them now.

How hard would it be to organise a few car transporters, load them up with their latest halo model and get them out ASAP to what would be universal praise from customers and dealers splashing their near Evo COTY winning car all over social media.

But no - they have to dither and delay as usual.
Well theres the ECOTY spoiler - not received my copy yet... :(

When they blame the lack of HGV drivers we know have them, they do this day to day, i can only imagine it's more the case that the GR86 did not get priority for a launch like maybe some of the toyota team thought it would?

Seems to be business as usual for their logistics, just more cars to go out when they can.
Notice they they didn't seem to have much issue getting the 60(?) or so demo cars out in pretty short order though.

Had an update from TUK earlier today. The technical issue is to do with the issuance of the Certificate of Conformity which needs to be issued per vehicle for registration, and it's an issue which would only be visible at the point of the final registration - hence it cropping up at the last minute. Problem is not resolved, but I am assured it's being treated as a top priority as TUK are chasing their IT department constantly. Hoping for an update later today, but still no certainty that it will be resolved today.

If it doubt, blame IT 🙄

tbf, I was given a pretty thorough explanation of the issue and unfortunately it's not something that the people issuing the registrations have much control over, so not the fault of the Toyota Online team we walk to. They are at the mercy of Toyota Europe who need to provide the data and that's not happening. As I said though, it sounds like at least the issue is being treated as a priority. I imagine it's pretty embarrassing for them as it's affecting lots of vehicles.

On the plus side, if the issue goes on for several days, then the drive away insurance certificate can be reissued.

That's good to know. Do you have the reg yet?

Would that issue not impact on all cars? Some escapees actually made it to customers, how did they get a certificate? How did the demo cars and all the cars for journalists get one?

We didn't know when the demo cars were due, so we don't have a baseline to measure them against. It's industry-wide at the moment. When I placed the order for my Alpine, I was told that the area they are having the biggest issue with is delivery. My car is currently sat in the import centre waiting to be transported across.

I do feel for you, I hope you get your car sorted soon. My order is still processing! Who knows what the world will be like when it's due for delivery in 'early 2024'!!

Yup, I've had that since payment :)

I wasn't quite clear, but it appears to be an issue with the data stream that comes from Toyota Europe or something. It doesn't necessarily affect all vehicles and I think the issue has only occurred since yesterday.

Presumably this issue isn't the reason why most of the first batch weren't delivered at all? I've had no update since "unknown reasons" on Monday.

I don't think so. As I said, it was explained to me that the issue would only come up at the final stage of the registration process, which is done on the day of the handover. Hence why I didn't get the notice about it until almost the time of the handover. I don't think it would have stopped the actual delivery of the vehicle to the dealer. But I don't know, just speculating now.

This sounds oddly similar to what happened to my initial test drive though.
I was told to come on Thu, but an hour before I had a call that the car is not registered yet due to some issue and that I should come the day after.

Thanks. I'll contact TOR again, they've had 48 hours to ring the car park attendant to ask why they failed to deliver the rest of the first batch.

Just had a call with TUK, even though I received the email about being in the 1st batch they told me there was some miscommunication and some of us who received the email might actually not receive the car before Christmas. They did not had any date what's so ever to when my car was suposed to be delivered (10.16 order).
However I did ask about the PCP interest rates, in case the car was to be delivered after December and they told me Toyota will honour the 3.9% rate even for orders after December, which is not that bad.

Maybe that explains why the demonstrator had the reg plate changed between me seeing it, and you test driving it?
Perhaps they just re-registered the car entirely.
