GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

I went with my boyfriend, so Leigh the representative left us alone. He even suggested me to go on Epping New Road in Epping Forest for a countryside drive! I just did a short drive between Snakes Lane and the dealership to get a feeling of the car in town

Yep, I already asked to go unaccompanied and they seemed to be fine with that. Going off Epping New Road is even better with some fantastic side roads, like Forest Way.

Yeah… No 👍

i really struggle to understand why anyone would want a auto GR86, where is the fun dropping from 5th to 3rd on a long 70 mph bend?

You would drop 2 gears... mid corner... at 70mph? Thats brave.

I have never owned an auto but I have driven PDK, I get it, knocking down 2 gears using paddles means you never have to take your hands off the wheel, you end up putting more effort into positioning the car and reacting to what it does, you are still in control of the shifts, it's just a different dynamic and is rewarding in a different way. I think the problem comes from when the car you're driving is either too refined, too isolated from the road or isn't a rewarding chassis. Losing the manual in that type of car is one step too far, adding to that disconnection. Can't see a GR86 being that car.

Well....

Today was quite the development.

I was told last week that my car had slipped into the middle of next year (by Toyota Online, after I called them to enquire) , my order was shown as processing and no movement on the order.... 10:11 order time... which I thought was odd. As I'm surely one of the first to order their car?

Today... I logged onto myToyota.... just to have a look just to browse like I normally do....
And I'm greeted with this:

I've gone straight from Processing to "In Transit" Derbyshire... lol, amazing system.

So, what do I do? Do I believe this? This tracker is probably more accurate than the Toyota Online team who are clearly just telling everyone the same information?
I'll ring them up tomorrow before I get too excited... but this could be potentially very good news!

I'm amazed at even this point how inaccurate the data is on when we get them. I made plans today for the trip I need to make Christmas time. I have to have the car well before then in order to get it prepped and do some running in before the trip, else I'll end up doing it in the early hours in the garage which is far from ideal and the closer it gets to Christmas the colder it will get which doesn't help either. Don't want to be in the situation of trying to rent a car so close to Christmas.

Same has happened to me. I changed colour to white in September and was told I would go to back of queue. I hadn’t checked my status recently but the dealer rang Friday to say that my car would be delivered to them on 8th December !!

What dealer are you with in Hampshire I am withSnows. Since the email saying I was in the fist batch I have heard nothing no payment request either. Do have a demo booked for Friday. Its frustrating that they can’t give a delivery day this late in the game. It’s certainly taken all the fun out of the buying process. Hopefully if transport is coming to Hampshire for deliveries they will bring a few cars at once.

I’m with Snows at Hedge End. I’m taking their delivery forecast with ”a pinch of salt” . I will wait for TUK to make contact. No test drive booked as yet.

Out of interest as car doesn’t come with Sat Nav do I have to buy some form of holder for my phone or will it just transfer phone mapping such as WAZE to screen on dash. If it does where do I locate the phone ?

Wired CarPlay/Android Auto; put it in the centre console where the charger points are.

Got a message from my dealer yesterday saying that my car had slipped to the 19th but then moved forward to the 8th, which I think is the first time it’s moved forward.

Hopefully the wait is almost over.

I realise I have spent the last six months moaning about communication but the online team have actually been good in the last couple of days. They've answered queries very quickly, they've told me when my car is scheduled to be at the dealer and that I should be able to collect in during the following week. I wonder if the new Director of Customer Service is already having an impact?
@GS6R4,

Thank you for that really useful information - I had not realised that Toyota (GB) PLC (TGB) was appointing a new Director, Customer Services. However, having just checked out the relevant Press Release (at the link below), I see that TGB's current General Manager, Network Operations, Rob McKendrick, does not succeed the current Director, Customer Services, Rob Giles, until the 1st January 2023. Here's the link:

My wife has the auto on order but only because that is the only type of license she has. She could never work out manual despite me trying to convice her to continue when learning so she switched to auto only. For anybody that has a manual license and chooses auto I do not understand because this is a car that will definitely thrive on being manual if you can drive manual.
