It's not clear what's going to happen to the demonstrator cars that are scheduled to appear in the next few weeks, once they've been demonstrated (in whatever form that demonstration might take) . . . I wonder if it might be worth getting a list going of their registration numbers, so that anyone who gets offered a GR86 in the future would know that the car they're being offered has clocked up at least some of its miles whilst being enthusiastically appraised by a potential customer.

I’d already added a heading on “The List” to capture the demo cars , hopefully we will have a complete list in one place eventually

It would be useful for folk to post details of the demo cars here , with registration number and photos if possible when they have had a demo 🤷‍♂️

They can't possibly sell ex-demo cars as 'new', surely? If my car has more than 12 miles on it when it's received, I'm going to be very cross indeed

A ”new car” is unregistered before the first keeper has their name on the V5, any demonstrators sold will be registered by TUK or the dealership which makes the first registration, anyone who buys a demonstrator will be the second keeper.

Yes of course they will, I'm being thick, duh

I dropped into Macklin in Glasgow to have a quick look at the GR86 in red. Should be test driving this one within the next week or so.

Pics below for registration details (y)

I had the pleasure of being the first to drive Steven Eagell St Albans’ demo car. This colour was my second choice, it’s really nice if you want subtle. Here you go:

Aw man, that looks great in grey (ace photo too) - I really don’t want to start thinking about changing colour though🫣 (ice silver currently…)

13 demonstrators on the list so far , unless I’ve missed any 🤔

If Toyota had made the physical colour samples available to GR Centres before they went online making a colour choice would have been a much easier process , not as good as being able to see the car in your preferred colour but a lot easier than looking at photos of the same colour which all look different 🤷‍♂️

@AndyRC I'm not 100% sure but I think the Gillingham dealer either has 2 exactly the same demos or the actual number plates of the one I drove are different

I’m struggling to think of any part of this whole process that Toyota UK couldn’t have done better! I wouldn’t be shocked if when, eventually, I get a date to go and collect my car, I’ll get there and it’s got an automatic gearbox!

This picture might be the reason I will go from 'Left the Factory' to the back of the queue!:ROFLMAO:

Although in fairness, we had been down to see our chosen, Pearl White in the metal and both my wife and I came away a little bit underwhelmed. It was nice and the circumstances didn't do the white any favours having protective film still in place and in the rain. But we then decided to go down to another dealer to see it in red and again it was nice but we were still a bit undecided. Then we seen this picture which has resulted in lots of Google and YouTube searches for Magnetite & Pavement Grey which is UK/US names for the same colour I believe?

We still like the white but need to make a decision asap as am not keen delaying my delivery until 2024.
