GR Yaris To Carbon roof removal or Not

Booked in Monday 21st to get the roof wrap removed and PPF’d. Protex detailing in Lewes are doing and I’ve asked them to photo/video the process in stages so I can share for those that are interested.

Protex have suggested Xpel clear and 2 coats of Gtechniq Halo to add protection

Are they going to laquer it as well first?

Yes mate, I’ll email the process as they will document it for me as suggested there maybe a few that want it done but still debating

Also having PPF whilst it’s there and for those that are interested Xpel will guarantee for 10 years against UV….
I can highly recommend Protex detailing if your thinking of getting Ceramic coating/PPF/or the roof de-wrapped superb communication and workmanship thanks John

Protex detailing consulted Xpel and they said no need as will guarantee it for 10years. He did however apply 2 coats of Gtechniq.

Carbon without additional clear coat protection, just a film on it.... I wouldn't dare to do that. I'm curious in 3-5 years.

Not sure if this is a joke but is a huge no from me I’m afraid. Hopefully you’ve got a matching coat and woolly hat to go with them.

I was advised that it would need a UV laquer coat first and then apply the PPF.

I suppose each professional detailer will have there own view on this, I can only go by what Protex have advised and I was happy to have the UV lacquer but Xpel said there was no need as they will warrant it for 10 Years, so in my honest opinion they could have done and charged me and I would of been none the wiser but they didn’t
If I’ve still got the car in 3/5 years I’ll let you know but by then I’ll hopefully own a full electric 500bhp Yaris GR
