GR86 3 day cover debacle

They mentioned a link on my last call with them but then in the same breath said the dealer could do that too. Clarity as always
Yes, it sounded as though the whole process might’ve been completed by the dealer, but it wasn’t. No real hassle completing the online form and taking the pictures though.

I answered questions via email and they gave me a price but no mention of photos on that email. May ring them or just do the same thing with Motorway, etc

Be wary of these "free" insurances. More than normally, it's usually a good idea not to crash when using them. The excesses can be, well, excessive.

I'd always want to have my own insurance.

I'll be driving it home slowly and changing to mine the second I get home

I got the “cannot provide a quote” message too.

I’m not too fussed, happy to insure it myself.

I’ve dropped Toyota Online an email to ask if not arranging this will delay things and if they can give me better idea of when I can take delivery (so i can sort my own insurance), so will see what they say….

Won’t hold my breath for a quick reply though….

I must admit, I found the insurance process fairly straightforward. I'm turning 50 on Friday, live in an rural area in Sussex, have 9+ years NCD, 6 points, and it came out at £576. It'll be half-price elsewhere, obvs, but 3 days free cover is OK.

Edit to add - quote run on comparethemarket, £334 with LV Flow

Yep I was pleasantly surprised by my price. I'm just under 40, I live in Manchester, full NCD and 0 points and it was around £550 on the Yaris.

Interestingly with More Than I'm going to be getting a £30 refund when I swap over from a 2017 Jeep Renegade...so who knows how they are working that out!

£1040 with Toyota, under £695 with Admiral for me.

Not received any confirmation of the 3 day policy by email, fingers crossed it goes through though as my insurance quotes were not made for every single day of the week.

I only got my notification when it was activated the day before collection.

Toyota said £420 or so for me with EU cover, but I couldn't finish the process because it needed a reg number. Didn't ask about the 3-day drive home at all.

Will give them a call.

Ah, if you get that far, the 3-day cover is actually set up. It just doesn't tell you that on the website :)

Toyota wanted crazy money to insure my GRY after the drive home insurance but ironicly they were the third cheapest on a comparison site for my M3
