I called into my dealer when passing a couple of weeks back. Said there was going to be 1 demo per GR centre.

Only people with an order will be allowed to test drive. This is because their demo is pre-sold already.

Therefore, I would guess that once all order holders from that dealer have been contacted, offered a test drive, and had/turned down the test drive, the car will be gone to its new owner. Therefore, if your order is well into next year, or later, I’d imagine if you want a test drive you’ll have to take up the offer soon as I don’t think the demos will be there for long. Probably.

I had a 1k deposit with the Leeds dealer back in March, which they had to pay back once it went online. But I did make it very clear I wanted a test drive with my Wife before the car arrived. Since then they have been in regular contact by Mail & Phone, no complaints really about the Dealership.

Same story for me at the start of the process, but little contact (unless I call them) ever since for some reason.

Good to hear and great spec choice! :D

I also went for Halo White and MT, with an order confirmation of 10:28 so hopefully get a build update in the next few weeks(y)

Well, should clarify it’s provisionally booked 😂 Marshall’s Cardiff have said they have test drives available from Friday hopefully, and my contact is off until Monday but he’s going to ring me and confirm when he’s back.

I thought you said you were using Marshall’s previously- I am too and my contact is off too (Chris - assume we’re dealing with the same guy?)…..funny thing is I just tried to book in a test drive with them and got told they aren’t expecting a demo til Jan or Feb😂…I’ve mailed Chris so see how he responds when he gets back. Not too bothered by the test drive tbh but as I’m off work next week thought it’d be good to try it if it’s available.

I’ve been dealing with Callum! Weird how we’re getting differing information though… rang them this morning and reception person said they’re getting it 16th/17th and it should be ready 18th.

Amazing how they’ve told us different things as my conversation was with reception too! Will see if I get a mail on Monday and if not I’ll call again- but please post if you get confirmation on the test drive 👍

Certainly not at my dealers, mine hasn't gone into build yet but the dealer has insisted I will get a test drive as soon as their car is available.
Sometime after the 16th.
 
So someone who has ordered is effectively going to get an ex-demo car....is that right? I'd be very cross if it were my car......

Inchcape Guildford told me the other week they weren't getting one but they're on the list now

I've had no email about test drives so it's obviously not a mass email, right to assume they are doing it in batches somehow?
 
Emails went to those whose cars are here and in Derby as part of the first batch to be delivered. Test drives are for those who've ordered if they want them. I'm presuming but the demos will be within the original demo allocation. Any of us who've ordered got build slots and will get new cars. Perhaps because some cancelled, they now have a few demos again. Or it could be the demos are still being moved about. These will probably get offered to the first in the list of waiting list as a pre reg.
 
For the two posts above...

I expect demo cars will be for sale when they are no longer needed for demos. They'll not be given to someone as a new car though, they'll already have been registered. Obviously someone waiting for a new one may decide to buy a demo instead if it cuts the waiting time.

And they are sending individual emails, it has your ORCA ref in the subject and your name in the text. So it'll be similar to the welcome call.
 
I’m guessing cancellations were used to backfill demo car slots and they knew they could sell them no matter what when their job was done. I wouldn’t fancy an ex demo, getting it’s head stoved in from cold and being fed regular unleaded is the name of the game.
