GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Just got off the phone with Toyota Online GB, confirming that they are still aiming for December deliveries and test drives of demonstrators should be happening mid November. They are awaiting dates from above, once they have them the info will be sent to GR centres and they will contact you for a test drive.

I also asked about the spoiler, the lady who I was talking to is finalising it all, but we should be recieving communications about accessories, this includes mud flaps, boot liners, spoiler, rear bumper, skirts, front bumper and decals and the like which would be dealer fit.

I'm quietly hopeful, almost at the end 🤞🤞
"Aiming"
"Should"

Still not letting myself get too excited until we stop hearing words like this tbh. I've heard "aiming for early September" then "aiming for October" then "aiming for mid November" so far. I don't see why "aiming for December" should fill my with any more confidence.

Still, it would be nice to have the option of getting mudflaps fitted. Not a particularly difficult job, but still a bit of a faff without taking the wheels off, IIRC from fitting them to my GT86.

I don't think I have the energy for this anymore. I was excited at getting my first ever new car and enjoying a summer using it. Six months later it's pissing down all day, my car is no longer new and there's no sign of it actually being delivered anyway. And the fecking app still says the wait is nearly over.

My "continual patience" has expired.
+1

I have mentally moved on from the gr86 already. Getting the Yaris has massively helped any stress I had about this whole process and the last few days especially have been glorious. Cold, damp, leaf covered country lanes getting a hammering every day on the way to work and I couldn't think of a better car to do it in.

I need a test drive for the 86 to win me over but this isn't the time of year for it... And, ridiculous that anyone else should have to wait whilst I do that.

How can they not know this by now? They need to take a leaf out of the book of Toyota Deutschland.

I just had a call from my dealer saying they are getting a demonstrator end of next week and will call me on 14/11/22 to book in a test drive on 15th or 16th before my car is then delivered the week after!?

My spoiler is with them already, I have some other goodies to fit too.

I am one of only two GR86's from this dealer and my car has been in Derby since July (ish) as it was someone else's who swapped colours.

...Not sure to believe this or not!

I popped into my dealer this morning to pickup my mudflaps and he very politely said they can't be sure at all when demos and Cars are arriving to them and TUK is the place to go for updates.

This sounds like the safest route to me.

“Aim for” means nothing now from Toyota UK. They always aim for things and yet they have consistently failed to achieve them. I struggle to see what is so difficult about doing what they are doing, and telling us about what they are doing

Gone into build now, I think.
Time of order was just before 10.30.
By the way, the app still says processing order but the Toyota online has moved to build in progress….Guess it’s 3-4 months to go now.

Edit - app updated too now!

Toyota told me no car for me this year it will be in 2023 and will take approx 4 months from in build stage on the app to delivery.
10.47 confirmed order.
Sorry I asked now and will start looking for something else ☹️
Looking at the forum makes me 😞
I know Toyota's communication had been truly dire, but at least I feel like you have a broad idea now.

Thank you for doing the phone call, I personally can't be bothered to speak with them as I would either get frustrated by non-answers or empty promises again.

I don't understand how they think it's even remotely feasible for them to get test drives ready by the few GR dealerships in the country within the next two weeks and contact the 400+ customers with an order for a test drive to happen within 2-3 weeks before deliveries happen. For anyone with any experience of the purchasing process so far this is not even a distant possibility.

And if they are not going to wait until the test drives happen and the required EBS updates took place already, why aren't the cars at the dealerships now and no uninitiated contact's been made with any customers still?

If I had money to throw away, I would bet a decent amount on the upcoming delivery process to be another infuriating experience on the other side of Christmas.

In a fallow moment at work, I've just had a read through the last few pages of this thread. I simply cannot believe a multinational company such as Toyota can royally piss off a huge number of prospective customers, when it could have been handled *so* much better from the beginning. Broken promises of delivery and not even knowing when future cars are going to start factory build, other than 2023.
I'm holding on for the car as the last petrol hurrah before the EV onslaught arrives but I'm getting sick of fielding "got your new car yet" from friends and family.

(Especially as it seems Toyota UK have access here)

I imagine those who have cars waiting in the country will get priority, then those who's cars are on boats, in build etc...

Yes communication hasn't been great, but given current market conditions, getting a car in 8/9 months is the norm these days.

Whilst true, isn't that down to general production delays? What makes this all the more annoying is that we know the cars are built and shipped to the country and have been sitting in a car park somewhere, in some cases for almost 6 months, with very little in the way of information as to why.

It's not like they're being delayed due to the ongoing chip shortages - they're being delayed for seemingly no reason other than a complete lack of efficiency on the part of Toyota UK.

Has anyone begun to think what condition the cars may actually be in after being stationary (most likely outside) for so long. Be interested to know what species of Derbyshire bird has nested in mine since July

This is in no way a reflection or comment on my fellow forum contributors, but I think I'm going to duck out of contributing to and reading the forum for a while - probably until I actually get the car.

It's all very frustrating and not helping my blood pressure and general sense of well-being, so I'll take a sabbatical and I'll see you all on the other side!

This is probably not a bad idea at all. Take your mind off it.

No problem at all, I kind of did a similar thing.

Looks like I'll be joining the World's largest GR86 Carpark along with @Lindylou13 and the fellow Georgia Highway dockees...
