Met a representative from TGB today and they said the waiting list for people wanting a canceld order is over 5000 people. And all yaris should be delivered by the end of the first quarter next year.

That’s likely to be a lot of disappointed people.

Quite a few of them wanted one to sell to someone else in the queue, others were in the queue because others are. So in reality, probably almost nobody wants this car 🤣. That, or the demand for used ones will remain high as the chance to get one from factory comes down to zero.

Well, I’m in the queue for one but I managed to pick up a cancelled order and just haven’t removed myself from the list so there is some truth in that! There must also be a fair few that are holding out for a new one though and once that chance disappears for certain, I would expect a fair bit of demand for the least used / newest cars. There should also be less on the market soon when people who already have one stop having another delivered!

wonder if mine will be here by then?:ROFLMAO:

Did he say an approx final number being built?

Therefore we should expect an announcement from Toyota GB that they aren’t making anymore and take the configurator down from the website.

I agree, but they probably like all the attention/hype,but its having an adverse affect,as alot of people will be disappointed

Id like to know if they are fulfilling orders up to a certain order number or date, then they must know how many are being built in total.

Call me cynical but they are using this uncertainty to create over demand, to suck people who don't know any better into buying the sport versions of the Yaris.

Even some of the sales people have convinced themselves these are the same as the GR Yaris.

I think more like they are jacking up the price of what’s on main dealer forecourts for used versions in anticipation of the official notification that production has ceased. Then will look to sell to those who were on the waiting list as well as those attracted by the press coverage about the end of production.

Some dealers have cars sat in readiness not selling at current pricing of almost £40K in anticipation of the announcement. They can roughly work out for themselves when this will all happen given what’s left on their delivery list.

That’s my take on things. And if I was thinking about selling my GR (I’m not) I’d wait just a couple of months more before placing the advert or contacting a trader.

At £33k - £35k for a brand new car with brilliant finance deals it was a bit of a bargain but at £40k+ and 7%+ finance im not so sure

Hyundai APR has risen from 6.5 to 8.2 on an i20N.

Car prices should start to fall as this all starts to bite.

Or supply finally catch up with demand - which has been the whole problem with new cars for the last couple of years.
big changes coming to the way new cars are sold, so tbf lots of dealers will be trying to gouge as much cash as possible now before the contracts are up.

Franchises getting cut out and manufacturers starting to do direct sales to customers, VAG already starting the process, and I assume plenty of others will follow to keep pace.

I'd expect car prises will stay high, as the manufacturers will therefore be getting a lot of the used stock as px and essentially setting the price back to the market as they sell to the used retailers (the same dealerships that were previously franchises for new probably). Makes sense for them to keep the used price as high as possible to justify the new prices, and they won't care if they squeeze the margins for used retailers.

134 on autotrader for sale

Yeah, the chances of new car prices dropping are somewhat close to zero.

If anything, I’d expect prices to continue to rise and offerings to tighten (reduced range, specs, financing) as manufacturers have to swallow their continued increase in costs against a backdrop of reduced consumer confidence and spending power.

Spoke to one of the more respected uk dealerships at the weekend and they seem pretty convinced that Toyota won’t be reopening the order books.

They did state that they have had very little to no information from Toyota though despite chasing weekly due to strong customer demand.

It was an advert placed on the dealership in questions Facebook post (that I enquired from) where one of the cars being advertised was the GR Yaris

Given you haven’t been able to order a new one for 18months why is it still being advertised?

Still plenty available used in dealerships... there are certainly people chancing the order books will open, but once they are confirmed closed those second hand ones are going to disappear pretty quick I'd imagine.
Absolutely my thinking as well.

I’m sure you are right but they don’t seem to be shifting at the moment

It’s pretty much the same cars on my auto trader search that were there 2/3 months ago.

Maybe the asking prices are too high.
