Has anyone fitted the String Theory spacers to their car without lowering it? Experiences on how it drives and also any photos would be great.

One thing I want to do (besides PPF & Ceramic coating) is spacers. It needs that stance!

I did for about a month before I gave it to them for their springs etc. Drives fine!

This was taken before the car was lowered (mines the one in the middle)

I have a lowered suspension , but I have gone with 20mm spacers, and a 25mm drop , looks great

Do you have a picture (or 5) please mate?

Reviving an old thread as I wondered if anybody had any further experience or updates to the original question about handling without any other changes?

I’m considering getting a set as I think the car looks great with them but am thinking about the handling. It’s not like I push the car to its limits or drive on track often, but equally don’t want to upset its balance without any further tuning. Thanks.

String Theory spacers fit straight on, and do not affect tracking or handling on standard height suspension, they make the car look so much better as the wheels then fit the arches properly

Most people would have only fitted spacers if they're lowering the car, as it accentuates how inset the wheels are without them. And in response to the above comment, it does widen the track of course.

Thanks, yeah after putting my winter wheels on they look even more inboard than when I have the standard ones (even though same dimensions) so good to know.

Cheers, I was going to ask as a follow up if you had any photos. Agree it looks so much better- really fills out the arches and completes the look. I think I’ll go for it if the handling isn’t really affected, especially as it’ll be for winter tyres/wheels to begin with.

Looks good, inevitably there will be some torque and brake steer but it's relatively subtle on this platform. Only relevant if pushing on track curbs and/or rutted (rally) roads perhaps.

I didn’t like them on mine and I sold them on. I have 2,20 neg front and 1mm toe out so nothing excessive but too feisty with spacers on welsh roads under heavy braking. No one else complaining though so it could be ,my car, my driving or my roads. Looked good though.

That’s my problem, part of me wishes I’d got winter wheels with different offset to stock (initial thought was to just make it a direct swap) but it was only when I looked at my car the other day down the side that I started thinking about the looks. It could be the colour (grey) vs the stock black that accentuates that too. I guess there will be a secondary market for them worst case scenario!

I fitted these and love the look of the car now. I’ve not noticed any real change to handling:

(Here is before albeit in the other direction for anybody considering them):

Another fun update but I took the spacers off the car today as I wasn't happy with how seated the wheels were. Turns out there was some minor scoring on the wheel itself so I think the end of the studs had been fouling the back of the wheels.

Am I correct in thinking that the studs on the rear are slightly longer than at the front - might explain what happened as the fronts seemed ok? They spacers are back in the garage and will go on again with the stock wheels in the summer as the car looks awesome with them, I miss the look already.

I should flag that String Theory state that you should check the fitment with aftermarket wheels for this exact reason (they are designed for the stock wheels) and I feel like an idiot - it'll teach me to fit things by torchlight after dark as I was regularly checking the torque of the bolts, but didnt spot this until I looked at a certain angle.

Has anyone experienced tire rubbing with these. There's a Youtube video from Japan where they fit 25mm spacers, the car is down -35mm in front -2.35 camber, and -25mm in the rear -2.31 camber, and the tires rub.

@Phil1291 posted a shot of widths and offsets and suspension settings and which combinations fit without rubbing. I will see if I can find it and post a link. Probably aftermarket wheels...

Here 'tis...

You can work out from there effective offset using actual offset less spacer thickness.
