GR86 Engine Failure

no, but a few years back something chewed through an exhaust sensor under my ST (causing engine light to come on and off) so decided to built a car pit in my new garage. Concrete guys had put down crap concrete , which was turning to sand. So was a good time to consider digging it all up and building a pit. Might help to check this issue.Definitely a great videoalso impressed with his car lift

BendPak make them, they are called QuickJack. A few years ago they were giving them to youtubers left, right and centre, lol.

Seems unlikely it will fall down on its own as it’s wedged up there.
Unfortunately not. As you see in photos its packed into the strainer, if it could fall out it would have done and would all be sat in the oil pan when its removed from inspection.
Even if it did fall down the long pieces of sealant wont come out of the drain plug.

One thing for sure if there is an RTV problem and Toyota aren’t onto it the “Claims Chasers” will be:
“Do You or did you own a GR86? , did the engine fail? Did Toyota make you pay? , call us right away on 0800 868686 , you could be owed thousands ££££ “

One thing I will say about Toyota, at least in the UK that if there's a recall they do it. They aren't normally shy to. The valve spring is the most well known one on the GT86 but there was pipes and a few other bits on the early cars too.

Think it boils down to a bad dealer making the call, rather than Toyota.

There only seems to reports of 5 or 6 cars including the one that Toyota have now agreed to rebuild under warranty. There is even comments that 2 of these cars might not be related to RTV blockages and poor gear changes. Amazed that Toyota are not issuing some comms on a fix if it’s affecting a lot of cars now!
That doesn't including the instances in Japan which I've seen another 6-7 of.

Had a couple of AMGs and I knew exactly who had put the engine together , as the nameplate of the builder is on the top of it.
Wonder if Subaru employ this robot to build their engines
