Since Android Auto works with cable (not seen a wireless solution yet) I wanted a phone holder with a USB connector built in. The part that holds my phone is specifically designed and 3D-printed for my phone and it's thin case. But what could be interesting for you is the clip I bought that is mounted above the AC panel.

It's a Proclip from Brodit for the new Yaris range. They have one that goes on to the left ventilation too

Brodit has a nice swivel holder for their clip but in this particular picture I have my own holder attached to the original Brodit clip.

AAWireless works without a flaw. It connects my phone automatically to the head unit, no cable connection needed. Search for AAWireless or Carsifi or ..., they all work with GR Yaris.

Bye for now Fred

I originally posted this on the UK forum a year ago.

AA Wireless works, I have ordered a 2nd and 3rd Box for other cars, but sadly no sight of the items to date, the 1st Box I use in the GR took about 4 months to get here 🤷‍♂️

Stuck at home taking my turn to have a bit of Covid, so I decided to finally sort out a phone mount instead of using the slot between the cup holders . I’ve recently upgraded my old Iphone a couple of weeks ago and had been hoping to use a MagSafe vent mount under the infotainment screen. It didn’t quite fit, so I decided to order the Brodie, dismantle the vent mount and mate the magnetic part to the Brodit mount.

Looking forward to getting it on the car, should be an ideal solution for me as long as it fits over the TRD fake carbon trim.

A quick search shows no UK availability on the Carsifi and AAWireless items and on the US sites it looks like they're a "crowd funded" type project where you have to commit upfront to a product not yet available. Is this the case?

Yes, both are crowdfunded and both are expected to deliver in March if you order them now (due to the shortage of chips and Chinese New Year). Regarding AAWireless I was one of the early backers and received my part back in November. It works flawlessly. So, which one you order using Indiegogo doesn't matter, it will take some time for them to arrive, but they will arrive :)

Bye for now Fred

I've been idly looking at phone mounts for a while.

For now I'm using a carsify, which sits neatly below the USB port and my phone is quite happy on a sticky pad on the phone shelf.

That's excellent apart from the lack of power to the phone - though there's nothing to stop me unplugging the carsify and running a cable to the phone for longer journeys.

In a geeky way though I'd like to mount either my phone or my old Android Nexus 7 tablet such that I can use the Torque or OBDLink apps with my Bluetooth USB to mimic a CANchecked.

The Brodit solution looks good and I have a Brodit holder for the Nexus kicking about somewhere, but it would look pretty conspicuous & ugly when not in use.

I keep getting pop-ups for carmount magnetic devices which look a lot tidier (https://carmount.uk/), and the videos and marketing look very slick. They do though appear to be identical to items on Amazon at a fraction of the price.

e.g.

Carmount stick on mount £19.99 each plus shipping (though there are bundle deals) https://carmount.uk/shop/dash-mount/
Similar from Amazon at £5.99 each delivered Amazon product ASIN B08S3JRQB9
Carmount vent mount £29.99 each plus shipping https://carmount.uk/shop/vent-mount/
FLOME vent mount £10.99 for 2 delivered (with Prime) Amazon product ASIN B085DCQS4L
Anyone know if the carmount devices are actually better or whether it's just slick marketing? The only difference I can spot is the use of the phrase "nano glue" for the stick on ones.

I found Brodit holder with wireless charger, anyone tried that?

I don't get the AAWireless thing when we can connect with BT.... I am sure I am missing something here 🤪

Bluetooth will allow you to make/receive calls or stream music with the head unit. AAWireless (I've got Carsifi but assume the functionality is the same) or connecting the phone by USB to the socket below the head unit will allow you to use Android Auto, so have google maps, spotify, whatsapp etc on the head unit screen and controlled that way so there's no need to touch the phone (illegal in the UK)

I have a Brodit in mine and use a short USB cable as I have an Android phone. It is without a doubt the best phone holder I've ever had (y)
Anyone in the UK that supplies these mate?

I have the AAwireless but it does not connect to the head unit. Connect phone via cable does not work either... What can be the issue here?

Brodit, rock solid in any condition (read U.K. appalling roads) not sure a magnet would hold over deep pot hole impacts

I did order the brodit with wireless charging now, think i will be good.

I'd be more concerned about the car then my phone if I hit a deep pot hole :D

Wireless charging or charging via the USB connection on the mount?
