GR Yaris Let’s get some numbers behind this: what irks you the most?

Looking over the ‘negatives’ thread, I thought it would be interesting to see what the most annoying things are about out little cars.

You can vote for your top three annoyances. There are only a certain number of responses allowed so sorry if your niggle isn’t shown, I tried to pick the most (un)popular ones!

To be honest, I don't really think any of them bother me much. Having owned standard Yarises before, I was actually a bit disappointed that all the great little cubby holes have been replaced with open tray type storage, which isn't really much use.

I'm surprised that after around 7k miles, I'm not even bothered about the whole switching assists off anymore. I don't even really notice lane assist much anymore, so maybe it's taught me to drive more centrally in the lane It's the same with start/stop, it stays on pretty much all the time.

Passenger seat height would be annoying if I was ever a passenger, but the missus is 5ft 1 and loves it

For example, if I’m starting a journey through the city then I’ll leave the stop/start on.

It's my first car with stop/start, but it hasn't taken me long to feel pretty wasteful sitting at traffic lights with the engine running. Used to get caught out at the start maybe, with it stopping the engine just as I needed to go, but once you understand how it decides to turn the engine off, you can just dip the clutch and work with it a bit.

I would add one actually, I'd like to have the option to have IMT on as default. I can't think of any scenario where I personally would choose to have it switched off. I'm no heel and toer though!

Yeah, it's an odd one. It's superbly well judged and unless you're an ultimate dab-of-oppo helmsman it's almost always going to be a good thing to have it on. At least it should be able to be set in the preferences, or by coding.

Absolutely with you with the iMT. Should be on by default and a button to switch it off. I never choose to have it disabled, and quickly notice if I've forgotten to activate it once I've set off and change gear for the first time.

My missus is 5'10". So the lack of adjustment for the height is noticeable.

But when you flip the seat forward to pop something in the back, it's daft how the seat returns to a completely unusable position.

But truly, these niggles are so minor compared to the brilliance of the car, and are definitely first-world problems.

The button dance only annoyed me once, on the driving limits day at North Weald. Because we were constantly getting in and out or stopping the engine it became a bit of a faff, as it involved the long press for disabling everything too.

If you forgot it you’d go through the high speed turn on the brakes and marvel at your inherent car control abilities as it just gripped and flung you on in a straight line. Then you’d notice the orange Christmas tree wasn’t lit up.

Having owned a Mk1 And Mk2 Yaris, I can confirm that Toyota decided this is how Yaris seats should operate a long time ago, and have stuck to their guns ever since!

The only thing close to a possible explanation I can think of is that if people are getting in the back, it removes the chance of slamming the seat back onto their legs in the original position by accident?

Should be able to set some as default at start up

I hear you on that one buddy, this was my solution for a passenger in case they wanted to charge their device...
