Well, on the assumption that the figure of 430 GR86s mentioned by Richard Lane in his Autocar article may well be based upon information given to him on an off-the-record basis by a TGB employee whilst he was in Spain, I reckon that the total number of cars allocated to the UK might conceivably be as high as 500 units.

Here's why: according to the Toyota UK Magazine article dated 17th December 2021 at the link below, there are 57 GR Centres in England, Scotland and Wales with an open point in Northern Ireland, so 430 plus 58 plus, say, 12 for TGB (including the Press Fleet) and you have 500. Anyway, here's the link:

Moreover, when discussing the sell-out situation with a retired friend who has extensive experience of the Automotive Retail sector earlier today, he posed this question: if the whole of the UK's allocation was sold in forty minutes (the Buy Online button was removed after ninety minutes) i.e. at a rate of around ten per minute and, given that every customer with a confirmed order for a GR86 who has not had a Test Drive before taking delivery has "14 days from the point of handover to change [his or her] mind and reject the vehicle for a full refund, for any reason, under [the] Distance Selling Regulations," then why would TGB need to register any Demonstrators?

I must emphasise that the above is nothing more than speculation on my part - having said that, though, there would seem to be a degree of commercial logic to the proposition...

The DoubleRs are in the IPL T20 final on Sunday with Jos Buttler hitting 106 not out today , I’ll take a win on Sunday for the Double Rs and happily wait until 2023 for my GR86🥇🏆🏏 😎


Update : ☹️ unfortunately the Rajastan Royals were beaten in the IPL final by the Gujarat Titans , who had been the best team all season ☹️. Jos Buttler was still top scorer for the RRs and had the Orange cap for most runs 🥇🏏. Big question now is will I get my car before the 2023 IPL season starts in March next year🤔

Hi guys, I remember someone has been told during the call that it is possible to change colour until the production slot hasn't been allocated? I'm thinking about getting it in Magnetite grey instead of Crystal black...

Was also thinking of changing to Sapphire Blue now I've seen the UK car in that colour. Would want to get some BRZ grey wheels on it though.

If you contact the online team and your order has not yet been loaded onto “the system” and is in “Order Processing” stage AFAIK you can opt to change colour , I’d did so 👍
 
Not a fan of black wheels, as I've a silver car coming (hopefully!) then I hope to change the wheel /wheel colour to a titanium colour similar to the BRZ presuming i ever get around to it.

I didn't realise there were any GR86s in the UK already - where did you see it? Goodwood has announced there will be on at the Festival of Speed at the end of June, I think that's the first time I'll get to see one in person. No news yet from local GR centre if/when they might get a showroom/demo car.

I called to try and change colour today and was told it wasn't possible.
 
Has anyone had a call recently, we're nearly 2 weeks into we will be in touch in 12 weeks window & there doesn't seem to be much activity from Toyota, maybe it was a typo and should have read months?
I've pretty much given up at the moment can't be bothered looking at possible mods or watching videos from our over excited friends across the pond!
Going to put it on the back burner until I get some update from Toyota, no point getting excited about a car I'm not going to see until err err got no idea!!??

As your order has been allocated a vehicle it will unfortunately not be possible to change to colour of the order without negatively impacting the delivery date.

Could be a positive for someone with a lot of patience, to own one of the last registered cars in the UK.

Yes, like you, I have ordered a GR86 in Ice Silver and have been toying with the idea of having the standard Black wheels re-painted in a Titanium Grey-type colour - back in the day, my Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce 280 had a set of pepper pots in a similar colour.

However, given that the door mirrors are also Black, I reckon they would probably have to be re-painted to match as well - have any other members of GR-Zoo.com with a GR86 on order been having similar thoughts?
 
So after some hard work by @Adam pulling together where all the GR86 are going to live for the interactive map he found 4 lucky folk who had somehow managed to secure 2 cars each 👏👏👏 The bad news is they are now back down to one 😉 which means we have four places to fill on “The List” 😎
