The demonstrator cars should be arriving at those dealerships who will be getting one ( possibly only GR Centres) end of July early August. My local dealership can see their car already on the Toyota system . Folk may want to have an early look so If you know of a dealership getting a demo car add it to the list.

Thanks

Andy

1. John Roe Toyota, Hull - 6MT - Ignition Red
2. RRG Macclesfield - ? ?
3. Marshalls Gatwick ? ?

5. Gatwick GR Centre ??

Thought it would be useful for posterity to keep a list of the U.K. registered Toyota Press Cars , someone lucky may end up with one in the future ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I'm sure RRG Macclesfield said around the 15th June for theirs, did'nt ask what colour or transmission, I suppose if some are already being built and a month to ship here it may be right.๐Ÿ‘

Definitely worth asking what spec it is? if they have a car coming they can see what it is on the ordering system ๐Ÿ‘

I had a call from my dealer, if anyone is close to the West Midlands area, on the 29th May there is an MR2 event at Hatton Park near Warwick, Toyota are bringing a GR86, most likely the German reg red car seen in autocar's fun car of the year award. Unlikely to be able to drive it, but the event is free, I'll certainly be there to have a look!

If they do let me drive it I'll be disappearing sharpish, and holding it ransom until I get mine!

Not even sure what the point of a press car is when you've sold out of your entire UK allocation. Not much point in building hype really...

I think it's the same as the whole point of selling a token amount of GR86s to the UK, marketing and brand image. Similar to that BTCC volvo 850 in the 90s

Got to ask what's the point of test driving a car you can't buy, therefore what's the point of dealers getting demos. "hey come test drive a car you can't buy.... but we'll sell you a shitty little hatchback while your here". Sounds like Toyota are taking the piss

It allows people who have ordered the opportunity to drive it - if they don't like then they can get their money back and move on and Toyota can contact the next person on the waiting list.

Not sure that's the reason. Toyota have already sold you the car so why bother with test drives. I think it's to get people in who didn't get one then try and flog them a more expensive Supra

Looking after their customers? Making this car an online only sale, limiting the amount of cars available, making it pretty much impossible to buy one. To me that's a funny way of looking after your customers especially customers like me who have previously bought the Gt86.

As a "deposit paid" customer I am really looking forward to seeing and driving a demo car as soon as I can. The UK allocation was all snapped up before pretty much anyone here has sat in or driven one.

I want to confirm I am happy with the look, fit and feel of the car before completing my purchase, so thank you to Toyota UK for bringing the demo cars over for the online customers.
