GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Had some TOM'S bits arrive from Japan a few weeks back. Gave the car a clean and put the new bits in. New steering wheel and PCV valve arriving next week.

My detailer was sponsoring a local meet so more than happy to attend, even winning a free wash in the easter egg hunt. Good day all round.

I can't get my thoughts away from a set of Apex VS-5RS in silver. Its a hard hit to take but possibly on the cards this year. Potentially pair it with going back to the oem badges and removing excessive carbon.

They are expensive and some comments of people saying they are made in China. I am between those or TWS T66-F if I buy another set

My first meet of the year, German vs Japanese at B-Road at The Stag. Complete fluke that the only 2 86s there were parked next to each other, both red, and one of each generation :D I'll try and post more about events here for the southern members and those in the area.

Went for my first proper drive of the year yesterday morning as it was a bank holiday. Got out just before 6am, just getting light. Still bloody cold, so I was careful, but it's been nice and dry for a while now, so still good fun for an hour and a half or so. Saw a group of Porsches parked up at Ide Hill with the drivers stood around drinking coffee, gave a smile and nod. Hoping the opportunity for more Sunday drives as the mornings get lighter.

So took the car to Toyota a few weeks ago as it has been consuming a lot of oil since purchase a year ago. Told that there's no visible leaks and that they couldn't find anything wrong. Did the PCV valve test by taking the filler cap off while idling and felt positive pressure.

Opened the hood today to fit a replacement valve myself only to find dark spots and patches all over the engine bay. Swapped the PCV valve for a new one. Still blowing out with the oil filler cap. Obviously I'll be calling my local Toyota dealer tomorrow but my anxiety is quite high with thoughts of damaged piston rings and cylinders.

If anyone has any advice or words of comfort they're appreciated.

certain older toyota engines were known for excessive oil consumption and they did a "quiet repairs under warranty" for engines suffering...

have you measured how much its using?

tried a change of oil spec/type?

I topped up with about 1L over 6k miles. Since it came back from Toyota it's used 0.5L in less than 400 miles.

Third annual service at Vertu Hamilton this morning. Arrive at eight, back on the road by 10am. Cannot say fairer than that. Car was not washed and it was a whilst you wait service with the pre-check in complete. Coffee and a bun, pee then the sun... Sorted...

Installed the Kansai service rear strut bar and replaced the battery for megalife mv-19r saving 9 kgs. Also, found out I am overweight by 9 kgs too haha.

I had a monitor for the oem lead acid battery but I read LiFePO4 need a different kind to give a true reading but they seem too expensive for me.
