Had the car in for its second service at tuning developments. They did a bit of extra work while they were in there.

Typical Friday afternoon traffic on the way home but on the couple of times I was able to open her up there were certainly a lot of fireworks! Lots more torque in the high gears on the motorway too.

Its 350hp at the flywheel and feels a lot faster. I'll be going out for a decent drive tomorrow morning to get more of a grasp of it. I havent even had the opportunity for a 2nd gear pull yet!

Dyno printout here. I asked chat GPT to remove the shadow, but it also made a load of babble. I've included it for a clearer graph.

Hahaha.. Just "a bit of extra work" eh?? !!

I suspect your tyre budget is going to increase now.

Going by the amount of torque on tap. I think itll be a clutch first đŸ˜¬

I really haven't had a proper run in it yet. Just a few 4th gear pulls really. And one from 3rd coming out of a roadwork 2 laner, back into 3.

Lots of roadworks and a crash on the motorway next to my town so traffic was horrendous all the way back including the dual carriageway from the m6 to my house. Im really excited to give her a propper run out tomorrow morning.

Also, or forgot to mention the noises. It goes Wssssshhhhhh, Su-tu-tuuuuuu! Possibly the best part.

Nice. First turboed l GR86 in the UK?

Noob question, doesn't that air filter just pull in hot air? Or does it not matter as it's (presumably) intercooled?

Enjoy it, I hope at some point to meet you and hopefully get a ride in that beast
You'd be more than welcome, but I'm nowhere near Reading! đŸ˜†

I think it is the first customer one. Its certainly the first by tuning developments. I haven't seen any social posts from Fensport.

It is intercooled. I don't know how much difference it would make tbh. I guess it depends in how well the intercooler works.

That’ll be lively !

Possibly second turbo’d one in the UK? I’m pretty certain the pandem/rocket bunny kitted car that’s been floating about at various modded shows over the past couple of years has a turbo kit on it.

After sitting in traffic you might get some timing pulled if high iat's cause any knock which can make for inconsistent power delivery. I just removed a blitz intake off my GT4 and installed a factory airbox for this reason.
You don't have room for much but perhaps a shield of some sort could be made.
Congrats on the car though it must feel amazing

So, I just got back from my morning trip out. Quite a lot of average speed zones again - this time on dual carriageways. It was the A590 to barrow in furness if anyine knows it, It was a great opportunity do see the dailyability.

But first of all, this car is FAST now. There is some turbo lag, but not really the typical turbo-lag you would expect.
Basically, yiu have the standard FA24 performance, up to about 2.5k, where the boost is already building incredibly smoothly, and it ramps up into some serious acceleration which holds all the way to the recline. In gear acceleration in 3rd will very quickly see the speedo ramping up.
Overtaking is a breeze, even in 4th on a partial throttle and the turbo noises are really cool.
I had a little squirrely moment out of a roundabout in 3rd, but nothing too dramatic. The car hooked up in a straight line in 2nd which I was very surprised with given its a damp day here.

Driving it amongst traffic including overtaking as roads open up to multiple lanes is very easy. You can cruise a lot easier with the extra torque. I am concerned about the clutch. I though I felt a little slip the one time when hit full torque in 6th. I'll be keeping an eye on this.

Walking back to the car, I caught a subtle glimpse of the front mount through the grill. Its the only giveaway from the outside that it's turbocharged. It now has a tell-tale for anyone in the know.

I'll het more driving done and report back more findings, but for now, im very much enjoying it!

Another thing I meant to say. While they had the sump off they had a look at / cleaned out the oil pick up. There was some RTV in there. More than I think they were expecting as their development car didn't have much.
I dont have any pictures so I don't know exactly how much there was, but from what they said it wasn't loads, but certainly some.

Not sure if it makes any difference but their car is from the initial "90 mins" batch and mine is a 73.

I had a look at their website, what's the deal with the "only use it off road" as they're removing a cat, does this make it not road legal?
Is there an option to keep it road legal? I don't quite understand, not been down this rabbit hole but would be interested long term in getting this done.

Their manifold, which is the same manifold as used in their NA package is catless. The absolute letter of the law says that you can't remove factory fitted emissions device's such as catalytic converters. However you may be able pass a MOT emissions test with the fitment of a cat elsewhere in the system, such as the front pipe. You will find that disclaimer on anything that relates to the removal of catalytic converters.

Their standard setup uses a screamer pipe, which vents excess exhaust gasses from the wastegate directly. for a relatively small additional cost they will reroute the wastegate gasses back into the exhaust. I got this done to avoid further complications come MOT time.

Would love to see/hear a clip of the acceleration *on a private road

I've done a bit of a write-up following a drive this evening in my Member's cars thread, where I'll be posting any future updates if anyone's interested.

Damm looks great mate , cannot wait for opportunity to see it live if ever happens

Congratulations on a goodly dose of extra power, especially the midrange torque. I'll bet that pulls like a train from around 3500 rpm.

Unfortunately, I had bad experiences with Tuning Developments which means I will never use their services again. I will keep in mind your observation that the lag is minimal as I detest turbo lag. Keep a careful eye on your top coolant hose. Their manifold comes awful close and I had to replace a burned-through top hose in the old BRZ.
