GR Yaris "What do you drive?"

Additional comment: those that really know me, don't need to ask 'what do you drive' but ask 'does it live up to your expectations' alternatively 'how much are you gonna change this time' :D ....

Sporty Yaris, normally I’m met with “Ah”

Or

“You seen that new Yaris? I bet you’d like that”

I don’t bother now 😅🤣

I find it strange who’s knows and who doesn’t. I have a friend with a Evo 8 I assumed he would have known details but he barely knew anything at first, now I get each Motive video of the car sent to me.

Other people with seemingly no link to JDM cars love it, and know everything about it.

Best one is a biker friend who tells others I have “Nippy Aygo Thing”😂

If I’m seen in or around the car most people, know what it is if they talk about it.

Once I finally take delivery of mine, I will just be driving around with a big grin on my face knowing I've purchased a little gem. I've order this car for me and if people want to comment on my the car then that's great as they understand the GR.
When I first ordered my GR I was obviously very excited so told my work mates and only the petrol heads got it.
So basically if you bought your GR to get noticed then you have purchased the wrong car.

“Another Toyota Yaris, but a faster model” is my stock response. Very few people I know actually care 😆

This thread is more about exactly how bad this car is to get noticed ;)

It's a funny one, because people who are aware know as soon as they come across it, right... and I'm imagine a regular punter might even look at it and realise it's not your garden variety Yaris when they actually see it. It's more it's reputation.

My Dad nearly fell off his seat when I told him I was buying a 3 cylinder Yaris. He waited what, 10 seconds, and then looked at me and said, 'It's not a normal one is it?'

'Nah, it's a AWD 260bhp homologated rally monster'

I used to have a Corolla T-Sport, and it had a similar reputation to it to the Yaris, though obviously it wasn't as serious a car. It was actually even more stealthy than the Yaris though, because Toyota, in their infinite wisdom sold Corolla Sports with the same body kit as the T-Sport, except they had about 140bhp if I remember right. I remember many a Ford Fiesta coming up and trying to blast off the lights, and we'd be neck and neck and then lift would engage and I'd have 30% more horse power right as they went to change gear.

There are fewer things in a car more hilarious, when you're a 22 year old. It looked like they'd dropped an anchor.

Always, "I have a Yaris."

If they don't know: "Oh, ok." *awkward smirk*
If they know: is it a GR? *massive grin*

“A Yaris”. If people are curious, they’ll ask.
Ditto, and it really f**ks with the heads of the people who know me well but aren't car people! The petrol heads I know assume it will be a GR, the people who drive beige cars just assume I've fallen on hard times or been henpecked into submission as they've only ever seen me in S/RS cars and have no idea what a Yaris GR is.

Ditto, those that know me will be surprised and ask more. Those who are petrol heads will immediately ask if I mean the GR.
