Wrc 2025

Any forum members heading to Secto Rally Finland? I am already off to Rally Estonia in 38 days time.. and now doing the man maths for a trip north over the Gulf of Finland to Jyväskylä. Possible heading up for start ceremony on the Wednesday and do the city super special stage (SS1 - Harju) on the Thursday with the my 5 yr old boy. Not brave enough to take him into forests yet! But would love to go see the legendary Rally Finland and its Service Park.

I'm going with my Family to Ouninpohja from Sat eve to Sunday. Hope we could make a nice GR Yaris park next to the helicopter field, maybe to get some TV time!
Logistics to our camping spot

Booked ferry out of Estonia to Helsinki for the Wednesday. Staying at Paviljonki for a night in Jyväskylä to get full service park and rally experience and also happens to be Toyota WRT base for the weekend. Will let you know if I can drag the whole trip out to the Sunday with a trip over to Ouninpohja.

Pre Event testing has started here in Estonia for Rally Estonia which is next on calendar for WRC. Toyota testing yesterday and today. Hyundai has Ott Tänak taking part in Louna-Eesti rally this coming weekend. Unfortunately with work and child I am not able to try and sneak into the Toyota test. But will head for Louna-Eesti Rally this Friday in Võru.

In my home village here in Estonia preparations are underway for Secto Rally Finland. Hyundai and Ford M-Sport are both here using the facilities at redgrey to prep the cars. Cannot wait to board the ferry for Finland next Wednesday.

We have not got a thread for WRC 2026 yet but it appears Lancia is coming to Rally2 next year.

I am proper tempted to some how drive from Estonia down to Monaco for Rally Monte Carlo in 2026 - Lancia back and reports of the first Super Special Stage using the F1 track like back in the day. Maybe a ferry from Helsinki to North Germany to take the edge off the drive.

And Kalle is out from WRC after this year. Brave move and hope to see him driving some hypercar's or GT3's in near future. but to be seen.
Fun to see how much this affects in WRC popularity, at least for me Kalle has been the inspiration to watch the sport. Maybe Oliver Solberg will continue that from next year. Max Verstappen vs Kalle in Gt3 could be fun to watch, but I bet Max will win that race.

On another note I wish we could get a 'Drive to Survive' type WRC series. Get some publicity and lure more manufacturers to WRC and bring back a more colorful and competitive field of cars. Would love for Audi and some other brands like Renault/Alpine to join.

Definitely frees up a space for Solberg. I think Kalle has his sights on a future in F1 after that test drive with RedBull last year. It's a big name to lose in the sport, especially with such a massive Finnish following and also around the world. Will be interesting to see how he goes. I put money on him ending up in Rallycross sometime in the future!

I don't blame him. He's a generational talent like Max. Different disciplines will make him even better. Super Formula is competitive too. Current F1 drivers have raced there.

I've found it a bit sad watching Kalle this year, he seems to have been unhappy and not himself for most of the season so hopefully his move will help with that side and his talent will flourish in the Japan Super Series.

I also wonder if Kalle will be freed by this announcement and we'll see improved performances over the last 3 WRC rounds, it would be cool for him to bag another WRC title on exit.

+1 for Oliver Solberg in a TGR WRC1 seat in 2026

Yeah interesting news from Kalle - I also assumed he'd be trying GTs and then Le Mans, so I was suprised when he said Super Formula and then F2! Hope it goes well for him, would be good to see a driver crossing disciplines and winning.
