Printsport testing for Rally Lapland in -30'C winter wonderland. Lack of snow has made roads very solid.

Autobild just released a new article where they compare to road car to the Rally2 one. It's not extremely in-depth but fun nonetheless. It's in German but browsers like Chrome let you translate the entire article.

OT for this thread but there was many GR's doing SM5 class in Finnish national rally series, this year there is none registered.
we might see occasional cars in random events.
 
Incredible win in Artic Lapland Rally by the GRY Rally2 (team Rautio Motorsport) driven by Tuukka Kauppinen.

Tuukka was overall faster even than Kalle Rovanpera in the GRY Rally1 by 11 secs, and 38 secs faster than Esapekka Lappi in a Skoda Rally2 Evo.

Kalle was there mainly for testing Hankook studded tires for Rally Sweden and his performance was sure a bit hampered by the fact that by rule the studs for the Rally1 tires have to be 7mm long, versus the 9mm long ones for the cars competing in the Finland Rally Championship.

By the way, even more outstanding victory, since Tuukka is just 18 yrs old, and he had to battle with a flu for the most of the rally! 😲

Although its too much and early to compare Tuukka against other more experienced WRC2 fleet, I kind of wait good battle against Solberg and possibly also JML especially in Secto. but, wish he has enough time to build up the experience with that machinery and WRC rallies!

Pretty sure I read somewhere he did that while being ill with the flu too which is even more crazy!

Watching the Shakedown on Rally.tv this morning at work. Tuukka Kauppinen looking a little nervous on camera. He looks to have a lot of pressure on shoulders. Looking fast, going to a be a good Rally Sweden, I expect battles between Linnamäe, Solberg and Kauppinen. I think I prefer watching Rally2 over Rally1 these days!

What a view in the final results table of Rally Sweden today, six GRYs in the final overall Top 10 classification!

1-2 in Rally1 for Evans and Katsuta
1-2 in Rally2 (9-10 overall) for Solberg and Korhonen

With this win Toyota moved up to 2nd place in the list of total rally wins by manufacturer, overtaking Ford, and just 9 rallies away from becoming the 1st one overall.

Looks like our little Yaris is making history ;)🏆🥇
