GR86 GR86 - The TRD Monoblock Brake Kit thread

Nice 👍
I went the Reyland route as I figured AP stuff is ubiquitous and will always be easy to get consumables for. Should hopefully arrive some time early/mid July.

Stunning, and to be frank how they should have come stock. Failing that at the least should have been offered as an optional upgrade when speccing the car new!
Agreed. It really uplifts the look of the car and there is obviously the performance improvement. The car is not entirely in Toyotas hand so there is probably some good internal reason why they haven't done so but still somebody should have put their foot down since a good braking system should be seen as the basics on a car such as this.

If only they carried over the brake kit from the Performance Pack GT86. Was only a 1500 upgrade I think. Guys over in the US get it now. (Brembos not the TRD/Advics kit)

It's so weird. Spain out of all places have the option of spec'ing them . I'd have expected that in the UK and Germany

I think it comes down to who is the TRD distributor, it's not Toyota UK I believe, otherwise maybe it could have been a dealer fit option.

Looking forward to fitting my AP Racing Reyland kit on Sunday. I decided to give EBC RP-1 pads a go as I've only seen good mentions and they're surprisingly cheap for the AP fitment.

I saw the Fensport FB post and they look amazing Sir, they really do.
In your pic above a few posts above the car seems to sit a lot higher than mine at the back, I guess thats at home and quite a journey for enough for it to settle after being hung in the air?

Actually it's because the drive drops down where it's parked nose in to the right so the rear left shows as higher in the pic. In reality it's not at all. Nothing to do with being hung in the air. This photo shows the opposite side. The ground is just not level 🤣

@sbc_uk I know it's a long way off but I don't suppose you spoken to Fensport about sourcing replacement disks and pads?

I have. They can and will source when needed. Fensport is Committed to managing this as support to fitment of the BBK. Expected Lead time maximum 30 days.

In Fensport opinion both will last a long time with my fairly limited plan of track time in addition to regular road driving.

We'll see. Hopefully not a problem for sometime 👍

How are you getting on with them? What is the feel / noise like?

I keep telling myself I'm going Brembo so I can retain the OEM dust sheild setup (country lanes etc) but its very hard to ignore these when they are cheaper and definately going to be better performance wise!

They look bloody handsone too.

Awesome.

No regrets. At all.

No noise. No squeal. No excessive dust.

Feel is as you would expect. They are much better than stock. No fade. Highly effective. They will also last longer than stock as they are working less to stop the weight of the car as they are oversized for the job in hand.

And I agree, they do look freaking good behind the alloys.

Other than the upgrade cost, I have no hesitation at all in recommending these. They look and behave like an OEM fitment. Which is no surprise from TRD. Even my local Toyota garage was impressed and interested to understand the difference.

I also have braided stainless steel lines and racing fluid. And a brake stopper combined in the Cusco suspension cross strut.

@Fensport were awesome for the fitting.

My advice? If you can afford it. Do it.

Happy to answer any other questions.....

Cheers

Simon
