Gday all i may have done something stupid, I was out on a nice road and downshifted a bit too aggressively and went from 5th to second instead of 4th! The engine sounded really high pitched like 14000rpm or something. The wheels locked up a little but it was alright in the end. I always thought that doing something like this would blow my engine but the car seems fine! Still drives great. But will my engine blow up the next time i drive it??

Pretty sure that if you'd properly money-shifted the engine would have been gubbed almost immediately - the 'tracksters' amongst us may be able to confirm? As for will it blow up next time; suppose that depends on your shifting.
When I was doing Driving Instruction I had quite a few 5th to 2nd engine brake moments. I told my students to try and avoid pulling the stick out of 5th too hard, giving it more of a 'flick' out, as it will naturally spring back to its home position between 3rd and 4th, whereupon you can nudge it down to 4th and will have avoided jumping past the gate into 2nd. Probably rear wheel locking is the noise you heard.
This is a good point, 2nd redlines at 59MPH or something, and OP said he was on a "nice road", which suggests not motorway/DC< so unless he was being very naughty, it's probably not over-revved by much.

A downshift to 4th would suggest it was at least below 100mph too.
Edit: just guessing, obviously I've never driven it past 70
If you've had no ill effects since then you've probably got away with it. Only concern might be that the event will be logged in the ECU, so if you ever have to go to the dealer for engine issues they might be able to use it to get out of warranty claims.

Echo those thoughts, my mate is the UK tech chap for Hyundai and a couple of years back a chap in an I30N selected first from 5th at a reasonable pace which detonated engine, ECU logged 17K rpm....warranty claim was refused!!
You have nothing to worry about. If you miss shift and over rev the engine the damage is instant. It’s not something you do and the the car is affected later. You can’t have massively over reved it or it would be toast. Lesson learned no point in rushing shifts. Fast but not frantic is what’s needed. Forget about it and carry on enjoying your car. I believe there are very few cars that log over revs. Yes data is stored very short term but not something you can get back up weeks later unless it’s a Porsche.
