hey guys, I got here researching oil. I own a USDM GR Corolla core with all packages. it seems @DrSetup did his first year of timeattack on 0w20 without an oil cooler? I know our climates are different I don't plan on tracking the GRC when it's above 90F (32C) ambient temps. it's hard on the car and hard on me 😅 right now my local track is 60F (15.5C) ambient temp. I think I should be good with a full synthetic 0w20 oil before I can piece an oil cooler. what do you guys think? thanks!

Should be fine at those temps plenty of us in the uk have tracked during the summer when it was 20-25deg in the Yaris and we’re good.

You could use Motul 300V oil in their latest spec that should be compatible with the spec for these engines (could use 0w30 perhaps) and that are more stable at very high temps.

Would be great to see some pics and details of your car @black86

I'll update the Corolla forum this weekend now that cars are with owners, so you can share some details and show off your car. (y)

one of my first mods was the front ti brake shim. I've seen how you guys have been melting piston seals. I got the shims before the car, they're off any brembo 4pot, this one is for a Porsche macan

I use Pennzoil ultra platinum on my Crosstrek when I tracked it. oil temps reached over 270F (132C) but it was +100F (37C) ambient outside. oil pressure was fine, but since it's both port and direct injection I opt to change oil after every track day. I've never seen anything below 50psi at the track on load in a turn. the extra 0w40 I have isn't api sp ILSAC ga-6 that our g16e-gts' need. I might just use the 0w20 and go from there.

I've done little things like a red film over the map led. I had to use a film bc the led is soldered on to a board... and a license plate relocate mount bc state law requires it.
