Trying to track down the owner of this stolen GR.

It was used in a hit and run on my motor on sunday it was wearing clone plates (GR21 RED) but its actual plate is SL21 GZC.

It's a red Yaris GR someone must be worried sick about what's happened to it. Accident was in cranhill area of Glasgow but car was reported stolen by Lothian and borders police in April.

It was found abandoned not far from the incident and is still sitting there with the keys in it, police are aware but are pretty useless and haven’t even bothered to go attend to it yet 🤦🏼‍♂️. Hopefully someone on here will recognise it’s original plate.

It seems just crazy to me that in UK it's so hard to get anything from police. I was shocked when I was reading about hit and run on guys driveway and now I'm shocked about this.

Where I live if I would call police they would come, write report and call the guy/gal immediately.

Anyways, I hope the owner is found soon.

It's really insane, I don't remember the police working so badly in the UK from once I lived there, I see things are getting worse and worse by the day.
At this rate, it will be soon worse even than Italy, where you can't count on police on most of the problems you can encounter... (with some rare exceptions)

I don't know if this can help in any way, but I see from gov.uk that it passed MOT on 8th May, so the theft is quite recent.
And by googling the reg number, this link pops up:

Yes the whole country has gone downhill considerably.

Same here in Norway. Police has no capacity for anything, unless there are guns or drugs involved. They have plenty of capacity to police speeding and traffic violations where they can serve tickets though. I guess those things brings in money.

Police work is quite unthankful. If done right you'de never know, you mostly only hear when they don't do their work... Some complain about their work but also actively try to make it harder for them, that is untill you need them yourself... So anyone trying to do good work, I'm with you.

On topic, in Sweden we have an insurance company coop that deals with tracking stolen goods etc. If this car was insured then it's hopefully already property of the insurers, I'd know I rather have a well looked after used one then getting that one back...

Totally agree with you that there are still many people in the police who make a fantastic (and unrecognized) job and they deserve all our thankfulness.
And that people have their fair share of guilt with complicating the already hard job of the police.
But at least here in Italy it's becoming too much like a "broken record" hearing the answer "we are too busy to come" or "we come only if they do it again" once we call the police even for serious dangers or threats.
The EU recently blamed the Police in Italy for the too many times they didn't intervene after being called, and sadly a preventable crime happened in the end.

There is / was a red GRY knocking about L&B. I can count the number I've seen up here on one hand and only one red one. Bad business, plus PS should put a notice on the car and / or take it away.

@markku: don't mind me... just been jealous here! 😅
in any case, I have a 'theory about Mk2 looking better with darker colours...
You are so right, I guess. 🥲

But I still have a theory about the GRY making different impressions in photos and in real life.
Once I had to decide the color of my Mk1, I was initially going for black because, judging upon the photos, I didn't like very much the front bumper design.
But seeing black ones and white ones in real life pushed me more and more towards the white ones.
In some strange ways, the "black piano" inserts, highlighted by the white paint, made the car more "compliant" with its savage race-car nature.
On the black ones instead, all GR design was more subtle (wheel arches included), making it more resembling a normal Yaris.
So I decided to take my chances by ordering the Mk2 in white as well, because I like even less the new front bumper, and clearly I couldn't see a white Mk2 in real life yet.
But I hope that if this worked well for my white Mk1 it could work the same on my future white Mk2.
I'll let you know once I finally pick it up... 😬
