GR Yaris Servicing

Hello everyone, new owner (Saturday hopefully scarlet flare) just wondering what Toyota dealer people were using in the Northants area for servicing, or who to avoid.
Or should I just use the GR centre, Toyota Milton Keynes.
 
I take it you have bought a used GR ?. I personally thought all Toyota dealerships have the knowledge to service our cars. Once I receive my car I will be using the Toyota dealership which is close to me
 
Yep, couple of hundred miles,
I know it’s got to be serviced by a master technician so i wasn’t sure if all Toyota garages can do this.
coming from a focus RS and GTR35 I know not all main stealers are created equal.
 
I drive an hour away to get mine serviced even though my closest Toyota dealer is 10 mins away.
It's worth it knowing they are GR specialists and will use correct oils etc.

Plus there are some cracking roads on the way which alone makes it well worth the drive.
 
Yep that’s what I was thinking, MK is only 40 minutes from me and GR does love a roundabout.
 
It's best to go on recommendations of others. They do not all seem to be equal. I've used RRG Macclesfield for my car and my previous one for 8 years prior, simply because they are passionate about the service they provide. There's a good smattering of petrolheads there which have over time become friends of mine. Sure it's a bit of a trip, but there's always a warm welcome so worth a drive.

There is a very good reason why RRG Macclesfileld did all the valve spring recalls on modified GT86's a few years ago. My (old) car being the first to be done in the UK.

What makes the difference is that there are a few dealers out there that do the mainstay of work on GR Yaris, so experience is always key here.

I've had friends from as far as Surrey come up to Macclesfield for their GT86. We even had the Duke of Marlborough up last week which is a fair old trek for him.

I thought the same.

After ringing circa 10 dealerships in 2021 and asking when I should get the GRY serviced for the first time, I realised that indeed most of them gave me more or less the same advice: 10k miles or 1 year :mad:. That's warranty invalidating stuff!

The Toyota network of service garages, in the UK at least, simply wasn't ready for such a special-maintenance car, after decades of servicing Corollas and Rav4s.
 
Anyone had a glimpse on GR Yaris spark plugs? Thought to maybe replace them every 20tkm but in factory maintenance plan they are changed every 90tkm?

As its high performance engine usually spark plug change interval is more frequent - in my semi sporty ’280hp’ ea888 gen3 it was every 2 years.. and GR is has higher tune as stock.

Recommendations and thoughts?

Just go by the manual. Irridium plugs will last 60K miles/90K kms easily.

You can replace them earlier, but really it's just a waste of money.
