GR Yaris Rim Width

I think it also depends on the Tyre. I run CC2s in 235/45/17 on 9x17 ET 45 and PS Cup 2 in 205/50/17 on 7x17 ET 35. I like both sets but all things being equal, the smaller feels definitely more nimble.

Do you guys find over 8.5 rim width makes the car feel less nimble ?
I'm interested in why you ask......, is it because you are running a set of 8.5 rims?

I do like the look of the GR in your profile picture, what wheels/ tyres are they?

They are Bola b6 18x9 et38 clad in 255/35/18 Advan V107

I think what you’re feeling is the additional wheel weight.

That being said, you can only really compare if both wheels are the same weight, with only a difference in width. What previous setup are you comparing against?

I weighed a 265/35/18 DZ03G and it was around 10kg.

21kg with tyre on an 18x9 sounds like it’s a heavy wheel, and that’s why the car feels less nimble.

I’ll weigh a few BMW OEM wheels with tyres this weekend so you can have a reference.

225/45/18 on 18x8, 245/35/19 on 19x9, 265/35/19 on 19x10.

There are a lot of wheels that are wider and still lighter than stock, even with wider tires.

I think i have about 4-5 Videos on my Youtube Channel about Weds TC-105x in 8,5“ and 9,5“ and some Weds SA-99r in 8,5“.

I got delayed at the weekend, and it was so hot today I only got a couple of the wheels done that I wanted to, but it illustrates the point perfectly.

First wheel is an OEM cast 18x8 +54 with 225/40/28 Pirelli - 21.11kg on a calibrated scale.

Second wheel is an OEM forged 19x10 +40 with 265/35/19 Michelin 21.86kg.

Quality wheels make a huge difference to the way a car performs and feels to drive.

Edit* I don’t know why the pictures got rotated. They weren’t taken that way, apologies.
