GR86 PPF and insurance

I wouldn't take that thread as representative of all car insurance. I have PPF on all cars and never had an issue with insurance in terms of renewals etc (not had a claim yet). They all haven't even noted it when I've spoken to them but I've added 'exterior decorative changes' which is the closest category I could find as a modification in any event so it can't be said there isn't a record of it. That thread seems unfortunate, AXA can take their position of course but I know people who've had PPF and been in a similar situation and it's simply a case of the insurance agreeing the bodywork repairs but not the cost of the PPF.

Just to clarify, I've spoken to my insurer today and specifically asked again about PPF. Very helpful, she went away to clarify and confirmed they wouldn't class it as a wrap and they have no issue with it apart from they wouldn't cover the cost to replace it which is entirely reasonable.

Had a similar response from Admiral today.

Can’t find the insurance thread, close enough, I think 😅

Does anyone know if the retrofitted parking sensors are now classed as a modification and need to be disclosed like PPF?

Seems daft to me. The car was speced with parking sensors, so not an addition, its OEM per the brochure.

I just rang admiral after reading this and they said its fine, its not a vinyl wrap, they noted it on my policy, no charge and said it wasn't necessary to alert them as it was just a bit of protection.

They didn't seem bothered at all.

I asked them to put it on the notes and to confirm by email and they've done both. But to be honest thats because I'm being anal. If you're with Admiral you have nothing to worry about.

Thank you for asking and letting us know.

My first time using Admiral. I was impressed that I was only charged £9.50 to add new alloy wheels (will be re-paint) and rear spoiler to my policy.
