Today I closed a protracted and troublesome tale of exhaust woes from my period of KonaN ownership. What you see in the below photograph is skip #7 at the local council recycle centre, that now contains over £1K of 'scrap' that was a 3" Stainless Resonated Cat-Back system from RPM Performance (in Norwich). Despite assurance to the contrary, it turned out to be the 'droniest' exhaust on the planet, capable of creating vomit inducing levels of cabin noise greater than any Russian Sound Weapon from the 80s. I think I felt my wallet recoil as it hit the skip. I certainly still feel the pain of having 'spunked' that (and another £2k on Sports Cat, GPF Delete, labour etc etc) for what turned out to be a complete piece of shite

Thanks for sharing the woes too. Looking at the 'data' of sportscat + GPF delete + diameter of that piping and the lack of size of the dampers = not very suprised. Cabin shaped as a bass box doesn't help either.
My previous car I had scrapped the exhaust too, it had better chances than this one and was specifically developed to remove drone, but it changed sound so much with temp that once properly hot it droned from hell as soon as touching the throttle at motorway speeds. That was on the rear seat driving my passengers mad, while in front I could hardly hear the exhaust on my shorter comnute when it didn't get hot enough. Worst possible combination.

So much more to exhausts then a giddy just got it mounted exhaust vid with friend filming from outside when pulling away....

A harsh fate, for the lovingly-crafted exhaust.

Were you not tempted to craft some sort of Tate Modern-esque sculpture, as a monument to your love of cars/a warning to others?

Yeah, it was a full 3” system from Turbo to Tips. I tried 2 sizes of Resonator in the mid-pipe (both in skip) but neither made any difference. It was like living inside a speaker at a heavy metal concert.

Very, very true! Not many people come back and say how bad the drone is. That said, I think a lot of people just confuse the louder internal noise/rumble as drone. When you get real, pure drone in the cabin it’s like the air is fizzing with vibrations and it just penetrates to your insides and makes your ears hurt to the point of nausea - that’s what this system did. I was dreading having to go on a positive throttle because of it!
I only hope that I don’t experience the same when I add a system to the GR86, which is why I may go for the Resonated system from Cobra Sports.

Yes, I was. It was going to be a garden ornament/plant hanger but in the end bitterness got the better of me and I chucked it…
Couldn't you have sold it on to someone that didn't know, or didn't care, that their ears would bleed?
It was advertised online (Gumtree, Facebook, Forums etc) for a good amount of time at only £100 (that's less than 10% of its retail value). It was also advertised within the Scottish 'Nthusiast' club locally. No takers though. After a month of tripping over it in the garage and not being arsed with making yet another garden sculpture it had to go..

That surprises me, but perhaps everybody already knows that it sounds horrible...
A bit of a kick in the wallet.
