Hi all,
I have a 2021 circuit pack car that has approx 17000miles on it, its completely standard and I've owned it for a couple of years (since my bmw m4 got stolen), its been serviced by Toyota as per the standard schedule
I'm hearing an intermittant noise , wondering if its normal as its been doing it since I bought it, its quite hard to describe, so bear with me.
- It sounds a bit like a worn wheel bearing, its a cyclic grumble noise
- It only does it at very low speed (less than 10mph) - above this I cant hear it, its most noticeable when slowing down to a stop in crawling trafffic
- It doesnt do it all the time though, the majority of the time when slowing down it doesnt do it.
- It seems to be coming from the front left ish side, not sure whether its coming from where the wheel is or further inboard towards the engine.
- When its making the noise it doesnt get better or worse if you're turning left/right, it does it when going straightahead or turning.
- Its NOT the noise that limited slip diffs typically make when low speed maneuvering in a car park etc
Other than this intermittant noise the car drives fine.
When I first heard it I thought it was a wheel bearing on the way out (maybe it is), but the fact its so intermittant and only does it at low speed is odd if it were the wheel bearing.
Any suggestions? maybe its just normal for the gr yaris - I've owned various cars with fancy diffs and they all made grinding type noises at some point during specific circumstances, so maybe its just this? with those other cars I've always been able to reproduce the noise at will, with this it just seems random.
