While reading the engine failures thread (fun times), someone mentioned MyT Connected Services could be used to verify they hadn’t had their car on track in case of a warranty claim. This got me curious about what tracking is going on. This is the Toyota page on the service: https://www.toyota.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-aftercare/my-toyota/myt-and-connected-services
“Stay in control of your Toyota from your smartphone. Using the MyT app on your smartphone, wherever you go, you can communicate with your car*. Plan journeys from home, find your car, optimise your driving, receive driver analytics, and service & maintenance notifications.”
Summarising some key features:
RE proving the car hasn’t been on track, the onus would be on Toyota to prove it was (unless you volunteered it) rather than you to prove it wasn’t. FWIW, I’ve had my GT for 6 years, and never tracked it as it’s my daily and only car; the same will be true for the GR. however I don’t like these big brother features, and think they’re more likely to be used against you than add real value.
How many of these features work with the GR86, and how do we feel about them?
I believe you can disable all of these features?
Is there anything in the warranty that requires leaving them switched on?

- MyT app acts as a car data logger, letting you retrieve past driving data, including average speed, acceleration/braking events and mileage, for convenient business and general driving style analysis.
- Service reminders
- Warning light descriptions
- Fuel level
- Remote lock / unlock
