Hi all,

I’m thinking of changing from Michelin PS4S to Cup 2 Connect.

The PS4S have performed brilliantly at the last couple of Brands Hatch days, and are awesome on the road, but it looks like the Cup2’s are now available in OEM size.

I want a tyre that is still very capable on the road, but more track focussed. I’ve ruled out Nankang, Toyo, etc, until I’ve got a dedicated set of track wheels for them.

Has anybody tried Cup2 on the GR? Any thoughts from both a road and track perspective?

Thanks 👍

very good on dry track and road factory fit for Lotus 410, 430 Porsche gt3 gt4 and loads others

also OK on wet surface but when comes to standing water you really need to understand they're hopeless and simply don't have enough tread depth at 5mm to shifts that sort water

might also look at Trofeo R for better dry grip

Yes i had them in 235/40 for a track event.
If you don‘t want to use the track connect system i might suggest getting the A052 for similar money or the Trofeo R, which is one of the best tires i‘ve ever driven on track.
They‘re great, but ultimately, 225/235 is to small.
At least for me.

The car feels much better with 255 and 265 on track.
On the road it‘s the complete opposite where i prefer the standard PS4S in 225/40 over wide 255 or 265 Semis.

I hadn’t considered the Trofeo R. Looks like they’re also available in standard size.

@Phil1291 what size did you run the Trofeo’s? 265/35/18?

Looks like I’d need a min 9J wheel for 265. Might need to reconsider getting some dedicated track wheels 🙂

I always recommend a set of track wheels. If you get a flat spot at the track you‘re stranded…
So having an extra set of wheels, helps with that.

I didn‘t run the Trofeo on the Yaris yet.
Had them in 295/30 on my EVO. 😉

Hey @Phil1291 firstly, I enjoy your YouTube channel, thanks for your efforts there!

Just wondering if you ever got the 9,5x18 & 265/35 combo working? Any scrubbing? I'm looking to upgrade the wheels and tyres, trying to work out if I can get away with one set for street and track. Maybe find a middle ground like 9x18 & 245's or something like that. The 8,5x18 +32 Wedsports you were running look to fill the guards well.

265/35 Pirelli Trofeo R are actually ~285mm wide…
So they rub on the inside and the outside.
They‘re just too wide to make them work.

A friend of mine compared them to the A052 where you can see the huge difference.

9,5x18“ ET45 with 255/35 work perfectly. Maybe some 265/35 will work as well.
