Not sure if this has been discussed elsewhere (please point me in the right direction if it has been), but just been notified that the maintenance plan I took out with Toyota will expire in a couple of months.

Are there any good tips for locking in a decent price on renewal or am I just going to have to live with the inevitable price rise?

My service plan ends with the 3 year service this month, the toyota dealer are asking if I'd like to continue .

Did they say if the price would remain the same?

Highly doubt it that'd be very generous of them, had a quote recently for a 3 year plan and it was based on current service prices, the benefit is that you don't have to worry about being stung with service price increases again and MOT is free (at least where I had the quote from not sure if limited offer or not), service prices have gone up a few times since the car was launched. if you had a service plan at initial prices then you've saved a good chunk.

Iv just received details of a 24 month service plan from my dealer, it is payed over 22 monthly payments and the price is fixed . They have quoted £75 x2 for the safety checks which I really dont think is necessary especially now that my car is leaving the 3 year warranty and entering the comfort warranty period, so I'm with them on Wednesday for its 3 year service so I will sort out my plan then.
If the op wants to find out more feel free to direct message .

The safety checks weren’t necessary from day 1 but £75 for a quick visual that most dealerships would class as a free winter check is laughable.

Have a 3 year service plan, got the “safety checks” chucked in for free…. Doubtful that they are actually worth it though… if not free I’d probably skip.

Had to chase my local dealer for my maintenance renewal, and it's basically come back as the fixed service cost but spread over 21 or 29 payments depending on whether I opt for 2 year (1 intermediate and 1 full) or 3 year (1 intermediate and 1 full then another intermediate).

Rather unimpressed that the intermediate has gone from £190 to £365 (92% price increase) and the full has gone from £375 to £545 (45%) .

I'll not bother with the safety check (£50 to £75 - 50%) as I drive like a nun on the way to Sunday service and do so few miles.

As an aside, we were considering a Lexus LBX as a second car, but there was no way i was going to pay what they asked for the servicing.

And that’s why I use a specialist. Prices are far better and as long as VAT registered you keep the OEM warranty.

Every other manufacturer seems to offer a good package on services, Toyota on the other hand just offer pay monthly.

Err, I thought that, once you're out of the original 3 year period, the OEM warranty was only extended of it was done by Toyota.

3 or 5 years depending when purchased. Although if you track your car the extended warranty is void unlike the original warranty.

Mine was first registered July 21, so I think the Toyota warranty expired July 24, and gets extended a year at a time if serviced by Toyota.

I'm effect, I end up paying about the same as I was before, plus around £200-£250 to extend the manufacturers warranty for another year

Unless I don't understand how it works.

If you're the first owner then it'll be when you ordered, not when it was registered. Most first owners will have 5yr warranty as that's what it was when ordered.

2nd owner.

My car was Toyota Belfast's demo before I got it

Actually just realised that the 3/5 makes no difference, as the car was serviced (Toyota main dealer) in June on its (roughly) 4th birthday, which means that one way or another it's under warranty until its 5th birthday.

So the next service in June 2026 will either be with Toyota and extend the warranty to 6 years, or with an independent and wont.
