Hey guys

Long story short I took out my MAF Sensor out of the airbox to give her the good ol' clean, and the O-Ring split and fell off.
Not a biggie (or so I thought) I will shell out $5.00 for a 5c O ring from Toyota. Worse things have happened

I was not prepared. Toyota dealership took a page out of the BMW handbook and told me under no uncertain terms that the O-Ring can not be bought separately and demanded hundreds of dollars for a new MAF sensor

Surely I am not the only person who needed a new one. Do we know the dimensions or a third party supplier who I may be able to get one off.?

At the moment my sensor is in there with additional aviation tape over the top. (Don't worry, when I was done I slapped the airbox and proclaimed 'Now she ain't going no-where' as per protocol). However I really would like to get that O-Ring to prevent any unmetered airflow getting past

Any pointers?

Can you not get the dimensions from your split o-ring? Surely be quite easy to get a match from that.

Or just buy a big box of various o-rings and find one that fits?

Try a company that supplies hydraulic fittings and hoses like Pirtek and see if they can match the O Ring.

Thanks boys

I'll try a hydraulic shop

I no longer have the O-Ring because I was so sure that I could just buy one from Toyota directly.

I know; Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda

Would it be possible to get the part number for the o-ring and/or MAF sensor and see if it exists elsewhere ie on another Yaris model.
Is it in the parts manual?
I cant imagine they made it specifically for the GR.

If I have the part number correct, Looks like it may be used across the following cars at toyodiy.com and so might be able to pick up cheaper on ebay.

The MAF is a Denso part 22204-75040, common to many Toyotas, and is supplied with o-ring so the garage was correct about that.

However, even an original part is only something like £80 so what, AUD 160? with pattern parts much cheaper, so the garage were taking the piss with that quote.

Thanks for confirming,

With 'Straya Tax it's in the ~$200-$300 range; I can not remember the full price off the top of my head. Either way if we compute for a 5c part that needs replacing this is increase of 400,000-600,000% over the part that needs replacing - oh Venezuela, you're making us blush

Look, I do not kink shame, I can buy the entire MAF sensor - or why stop there, buy a new car. Or I could refuse consent to be taken up the ass and with a little bit of creativity and advice buy an O-Ring

Which part of Brisbane are you in?

Heya, I live in Newstead, and work out of Archerfield Airport

if you just find o-ring specialist shop they can sell you stuff with whatever materials and dimensions. so I'd seek for specialist instead of paying that rip off.

Let me check with my mechanic mate... he may have something.

A’right. Two o-rings

Funnily the CEL I got was a Boost Sensor A mis measurement. Go figure

Measurements in case you need em

28mm by 2 for the inner
30mm by 2 for the outer

Good luck
This post has just solved my headache.

Cars been running an eventuri since November with no issues, Sunday I went to do an airfield day with drive limits and I kept getting an error boost sensor A, then I started getting a very rough idle and higher fuel consumption, all symptoms of a faulty or dirty MAF sensor.
