This story was first featured in the 25th anniversary edition of evo. Stuart also voted for the McLaren 675LT, Pagani Zonda, Porsche 911 Carrera (996.1) and Toyota GR Yaris to round out his five most significant cars of the last 25 years.

And the fun the GRY offers is almost certainly more accessible than any of the other four cars mentioned, both in the financial and pure enjoyment sense.

For example, I've heard from an owner that the 1M can be quite lairy at times.

As for the Porsche and the two exotics, you have engine at the rear and mid-engine exotic nature respectively, with their challenging idiosyncrasies, to put it mildly.

Yep, the 1M scared the hell out of me once! I swapped it for the Yaris which can feel equally magic at times, but never scary!

It is still the car to get from BMW. Awesome scary drivers car. one of the best from BMW. The M2 where for sure no evolution.
