GR86 - Engine Failure

Not sure of the full story as I'm relying on translation but seems sealant from somewhere got into the engine. Similar happened to some GT86s that had the recall too.

Interesting that they are now saying the warranty does not cover track use. I've got 2 emails from Toyota online saying the warranty is the same as the GR Yaris and will cover track use. Nobody of them knows anything. They are also not interested in getting knowledge. Its just their job to...

A guy in Japan took the plastic oil pick up tube off and cut it open to have a look at how the strainer is designed , no evidence yet that this is the cause of the reported engine failure but at least we now know how it looks. I’m not an automotive engineer (but I am an engineer) and anything designed to catch “stuff” and prevent it getting somewhere it doesn’t belong will periodically need cleaning Another sump plug directly below the pick would do the trick to pull/suck the “stuff” out

Ahh this is because one of them took it on track and shifted from 5th to 2nd, completely screwing everything. Kevin mentioned it in one of his last videos (I think the one where he put new 5 spoke Advans on the red GR).
