Just a thread for generic tyre questions.
I'm likely to get Nankang NS-2R's as a track tire - they seem to have 120 and 180 treadwear options - what would you recommend?
120 variant seems to be tad cheaper, but 180 likely to get more miles and more fun?

Not looking for absolute speed but fun time on track and maybe also on road (occasionally).
 
I have used them on track before and found them pretty good especially in the wet. They were the control tyre for the Civic Cup over here for a little while. Personally I use their AR-1 tyres on track and find them great, even fine for driving round on the road. I had a track day last Monday, and due to laziness have been using them for the last week in below-freezing conditions and they were fine.
 
I used them on road and track with the DC2. It was generally a very good tyre. It lasted well, didn't overheat easily, didn't need to warm up before being able to start using it.

I out-grew them after a couple of days on them, and started craving more ultimate grip. As a reasonably priced do-it-all tyre it would be hard to beat.

This was with the 180 wear rated.

As with stock suspension thought dont need the stickiest option, just to get a tire that can take spirited driving for maybe 3-5laps and somewhat proggressive and logical when on limit. Maybe the new CR-1 would be better choice but looks like theyre poorly available.
 
hi. Have had the AR1’s for many track days and find them very good in the dry not so good in the wet. So in the wet use the standard tyres MPS4s on my second set of AR1’s now.
 
Just had Bridgestone Potenza Sports fitted seem to perform very well at the moment.... only issue is every now and then, 3 or 4 times a week the warning light comes on tells me there is a problem, stays on for a few minutes then goes off!!

Any ideas as to the issue, says take it to the dealer, as a malfunction...

did you resent the Pressure monitor sensors?
It took me 2-3vks to get them found again when did the reset so it's not a fast process. Got also malfunction few times.

Yes they were reset and they work fine, except almost every journey, they decide to have a malfunction moment, which always resets it self !

I am just a little perplexed as to why, there is no consistency when they malfunction can be after 5 miles or 100 miles, rain or dry ... very weird..
 
I think if you get more than 0,2 bar difference compared to your set tyre pressures when cold you will get this error.
So if you drive very fast the pressures will go higher than 0,2 bar difference and when you slow down again the pressures are in the "good" area again which resets your error.
Not completly sure, but i think thats happening to you.
 
Got the tires - DOT1222 and tw180 - for 130€ per tyre its lots of fun times ahead..!

I've used them on that compound on a K11 micra and currently on my r53 JCW for all season road commuting and some , " Game of Cones " . I am no driving expert but I but over about 4 years I can compare with a lot of Advans , Toyos & Yokos on the road They are great value all rounders . So much so my Girlfriends Fiat 500 has a pair and soon to 4. Marvelous choice , I was going to try a set on the GR too. for what you want them for im sure you will enjoy them with your driving talents . At a price we can all afford . Thanks for the reply... Now i will be thinking even more about when it comes oo and goes off!!

Any solution to it, as surely it should happen to everyone?

Thinking out loud, the tyres were put on and set in a very cold spell in the UK, i will reset them and see if that cures the problem!
 
Where's the best place at the moment to get Michelin Cross Climate 2's in OEM size?

The best deal I can seem to find is at ATS Euromaster where they are doing £64 discount for buying 4 tyres, so it works out at a snip under £480 all in.

Anyone able to find a better price?

Thanks KimmE a simple reset seems to have cured it, you insight into the pressure difference made me realise that it was set when temp really low so that has caused it to malfunction!

All seems ok now, not seen the warning again
