GR86 DIY rear light tints

Hi all,

In case it's of use to anyone I've made some templates that can be used to cut some inlays to tint the rear lights.

I've attached a couple of PDFs (one for each side) that are vector files so should be compatible with most vinyl cutters, or you could print the PDFs at 1:1 scale and use them as templates.

I highly recommend using a vinyl cutter if possible. I'm fortunate enough to have access to one which was very much appreciated after trying to neatly cut the tint film with scissors!

That is nicely done.

You would really need a scalpel and a cutting mat (and a steady hand) if you wanted to do it by hand, scissors aren't great for something like that.

Tried to colour match the paint with mine, not quite right but happy with it.

So can these be completely opaque pieces of vinyl?

I know a guy in the sign writing business who may be able to do these for me

And would I use soapy water to position them like I would with a vinyl wrap?

I wouldn't have thought so (at least on the fear facing portion) or your indicators won't be visible.

@Bluemanc100 - I'm not sure if opaque vinyl will let enough light through for the indicators. I don't know what grade the tint film I used was I'm afraid, a friend happened to have some knocking about.

The indicator bulbs are still visible through the film (when not lit) and when working they are considerably more dim than without the film. Personally I wouldn't want anything darker from a safety point of view.
