GR86 Busybee' Trueno Edition

Hi all,

New member from New York. Previous BRZ owner (MY19) and upgraded to a 24 GR86 Trueno edition. Visited the forum several times and just wanted to share/contribute to the nice discussion. I thought it would be better to have this introduction in the "members cars" section instead of the "new Members".

You are welcome! It’s just a marketing strategy. Non of the special editions have dramatic differences. Not sure if you guys have an option but you can get a gr86 premium with performance package. Then it’s kind of a Trueno edition without the stickers. You just have the extra wing, trueno labeled push start button, shifting knob, etc. Yhe ones in Japan are lucky to have a dramatic different trim, the sport.

Here in the UK, unfortunately we can't buy any new GR86 anymore after the 400 or so allocation got sold out. Only way is to buy second hand or import, think one of our members imported a tasty orange edition one. Good to see they are continuing to refine the 86 where you are.

I read that. I think it was due to the General Safety Regulations. The orange was another special edition. I like the newly introduced "Yuzu" edition (HERE)
It reminds the FRS Release Series 1.0 with a better yellow tone.

Count me among them. I’d have happily paid for the GR86 equivalent of a “circuit” pack to gain them given the improvement they make to the car !

Wheels are from the 2018 BRZ TS. You might remember that one which came with all STi bits included with one of the best STi wings. The OEM ones are Forged black (below). Which I also like but use as the winter set

Brembo brake and Sachs dampers were always on the special editions included both on the GR86 and BRZ. This year they gave the option to get those as a performance pack to add to non-special cars with an additional $1500. Which was also a great deal for non-special looking folks.
Meanwhile, I have a question for you guys. In Europe you have the headlights washers on the bumper. Do you guys still have those and are they efficient?
Also, if anyone is interested, here in the US there is a guy selling the harness for folding mirrors upon lock-in the door.
In addition, there is the device called Dauntless OBD (I have it) which allows you to remotely open close your windows, locks the door after 9mph speed, and also gives you all vehicle data on your phone.
I have no interest with both of them just know them from forum and due to the purchase I did. Have considered the folding mirrors but was a little costly (~$1100)

As I mentioned above, I experienced both the 1st-gen BRZ and 2nd-gen GR86. Both are great cars. I can easily say that even if they had only a base trim available, I would buy and enjoy it. These cars make me smile every time I drive them. Amazing car and we are so happy that we have such a great community to share so much stuff. We all are on the lucky part.

After the break-in at 1,300 miles, followed by another at ~3,000 miles (six months later, on November 24), it was time for the next one at 5,200 miles. With my only flat surface being the lawn (unless the top parking spot with a slight slope was free), I built a simple ramp for the job. Last time I installed the Fumato F108S, and that basic ramp was more than enough. For anyone unfamiliar with the Fumato, I’ve got a short 10-second video HERE if you’re curious.
I also stocked up on three of those red GR air filters back in November when they were priced more reasonably at ~$20 at BHJ (now $34)—saving them for summer use only. To wrap things up, the EWK engine oil funnel made the final steps effortless. Honestly, the Fumato valve and oil funnel are one of the most convenient tools for the job! The oil I used was Idemitsu IFG 3 0W-20 SP/GF-6A, which was on a great discount back in December.
