Been slowly working on a brake cooling solution for the GR Yaris, and this is the first prototype running for a month now.

I haven't verified track temperature deltas yet, but I’m not too worried about cooling performance given a few design choices: the duct cross section is wider than other GRY setups I've seen, the bends are smoother, and the tube feeds directly into the center of the disc with a custom metal bracket.

A couple of challenges I'm thinking through:
  • Hose Durability: The hose is thin and constantly flexing under a dirty environment. I'm wondering if accepting it as a regular replacement part is a fair trade-off.
  • Tire Clearance: Unlike the Rally2 GR-Yaris, the clearance the front wheel and the engine bay cover is tight on our street GRY. The current design only clears 225 or 235 tires on OEM wheels. If wider tires are used—a common choice for track days—the duct needs to move closer to the engine. Working on making this possible now.

Any thoughts are welcome. Wish me luck.

It's not good if the hose collapses and then goes the wrong way and destroys the cv joint boot. In my case it was pure luck the hose didn't touch the boot. I have got my hands on heat resistant thicker one's made with/from silicon, I will within a month.

Also, added caster moves the wheel forward and your thick ducts or tires will not survive for long.

Thanks for sharing! My hose is identical to the one in your link, except in black. The issue with these hoses is that most manufacturers just bond the cotton braiding directly onto the outer sleeve without any protective layer, making it prone to fraying and peeling off—just like our pictures. Only few manufacturers' product suit such use case, as shown in the pic.

Tweaking the connector angles at both the disc and duct ends should help mitigate the issue, though clearance is extremely tight and I'm still trying to make it fit.
