Anyone had this? I’m not mechanically minded so all help welcome!

I drove off the drive today and heard an alarming bang followed by a metal clinking. Almost sounded like something fell off, so I stopped and checked around the wheels and the ground and couldn’t see anything amiss.

Same thing happened a second time 400 yards later. About 10-20mph. It sounded like it’s towards the back of the car.

I tested the brakes. Continued to carefully drive a mile to the petrol station and back, no issues.

In other cars and this one I’ve experienced a scraping sound as the brakes clear deposits, and I’ve also seen references to brake binding on a GRY thread (below), but not quite like this bang plus the metal clinking afterwards.

I notice the front brakes have visible metal clips on the calipers, the rears do not - presume that is correct and nothing is missing? See pics.

Prior to today I’d not driven the car for 5 days and it’s been sat outside in the cold/ rain/ sun. I haven’t been driving it hard.

Hoping its just one of those things - but I’ll take to the dealer to get it checked out next week if it’s still a mystery.

Not the metallic clanking sound, but quite regularly get brake bind on this car. Less so now the weather is improving, I suppose.

If I wash the car, then don’t move it until the next day, my brakes seem to get ‘stuck’ when I reverse off the drive. Has done it since I’ve had it, doesn’t seem to be anything to worry about.

Gravel driveway, not stones flying off and hitting the wheel arch?
Good spot @Mute101 thanks. Yes gravel in the arches definitely happens a lot (a proper flat drive is the next investment after the kitchen) - but this time was much louder and metallic sounding - appreciate all the comments
