It will be interesting to see how the GR86 is received by press and wider audience, the usual crowd on DumHeads and BookFace will say it’s rubbish ”coz it’s not got a turbo bro” and only 230 bhp.

Andy, don't care what others say! More important is that the car fits your likings (like direct, honest, fast enough, fun to drive, ...).

Im always amazed when a journo says something without qualification in a global article; ie the 86 wasnt a commercial success. In Aus it was a huge*, you see them everywhere. In the USA it was a well thought of and im pretty sure they sold a bunch with a Scion name. Its only in the UK that Toyota UK got greedy and asked too much for them and killed the sales figures wasnt it?
If it hadnt been a success then Toyota and Subaru would have let it die and walk away, instead we have this 2.0 version...

I’m hoping it will be more like this (not the one I owned , sadly virtually no photos of that car
)I had a brand new 89 Honda CRX , 120ish bhp , no turbo , red line over 7000rpm, 900kg and I could use all it had most days , looking back the most ”fun” car I owned. It even had electric windows (big thing back then) and a sun roof
