GR Yaris A high pitch pulsating noise when driving

Hi guys!

Got my GR Yaris a couple of days ago - bought from Toyota directly, it's been their testing car in one of the showrooms, has 1200 miles on the clock, so it'd new-ish.

The car is nearly perfect, with one annoyance - a high pitched, pulsating sound coming from the front of the car. It gets louder and more intense the faster I go and it's nearly not noticeable when the car is driven slowly. It's not there at all when the car is stationary.

I have driven two other GR Yarises before buying this one and they both had it. In the car I bought, this sound was not there when I first drove it, but started appearing after 300 miles or so.

This noise is kinda quiet, it's hard to notice, but it's annoying to a point that my ears are ringing hours after I finished driving the car.

Any clue what's this?

Sorry never heard (!) of this. Maybe some frequency that is triggering Tinnitus for you?

There has been some discussion about a resonance at about 100km/h when cruising, but it's not very high pitch and only at that speed thereabouts, but do check if it's this you mean: https://www.gr-zoo.com/threads/resonance-at-2600-rpm.1901/

Reading this I also had to think of Tinnitus..
Not saying it's impossible that 3 GR Yarises have a noise that has never been spoken about on the Forums but it does seem improbable.
 
my bad tires are very noisy, but if you have driven with proper quality tires it should be not that loud.
 
Wow that's interesting, what do youthink happened?

Well the new one doesn't have it and I turned mine off very soon into ownership too because it disturbed me but not in the same way as you, well not conciously at least...

Hard to say why turning these off solved it for me, but my best guess is that my ears where botheted by extra noise coming from speakers + noise cancelling wasn't working properly and generated some "white noise" and those combined with all the regular car noises was just too much

Your car completely stock?
 
Did you try turning them off one at a time? I have my fake engine noise off, but noise cancelling still on (mainly because of my aftermarket exhaust) and find this to be 'perfect'.
