I found this on Pissedupheads - Mk1 MR2 with under 2,000 miles from new!! 😮

I had one back in the day and they were a cracking car. Not sure I would pay a fiver under £33k for one that is 32 years old 🤔

Er, how can it get an MOT without testing the screenwash works?

yep... but now this guy has just thrown his MOT test centre under the bus... we all know the guy is iffy and so does the mot testing body.

I looked it up, its MOT'd until 15/9/22 and I know you can find who did the MOT on another system as Carwow and others do that with cars they look to buy so they can see the advisories etc. Probably possible to find the MOT station as a citizen then, even easier as the testing body...

I have a mate who does the equiv of MOTs here and always asks customers who ask for 'favours' to consider if they really think he should put his licence, and therefore his business, on the line for a favour to someone? People often ask too much without knowing what the ramifications are...

Its also a really silly thing to say that a switch in a car has never been pressed. Of course it has. At the factory, at the PDI and at any service that was done as well.... probably.... Saying something hasnt been used is impossible unless you were there with it during its whole life lol.

To be honest the ad is weird and over promises in quite a few areas. Lets pick another one; 'never has seen nor will ever need any replenishing works'. What does that mean? Of course it would need work if you wanted to use it. You cant take a 30 year old car out of a box and just drive it. It would need all new fluids and quite likely the rubber parts would need replacing. The only time you dont need to 'replenish' something is when you leave it as a static display in a museum and even then its returning to nature as time progresses. :/

So your going for the Yaris then?

I had three MK1's. Two of them supercharged. They are really good fun and I think I cut my teeth on track in one. If you can be fast in a MK1 you can be fast in anything as the handling does have a few flaws and you need to be chuffing quick with the opposite lock. Surprisingly they are blisteringly fast in the wet with the right tyres on track due to the mid engined layout really helping traction. As I said before, when it goes, the window to save it and and avert a spin is pretty small!

However, things have significantly moved on since 1985. I'm still a director of an MR2 club and the vice-chair dating back to 2004!

The price seems ludicrous but maybe they'll get a bite. :ROFLMAO:

Here's the re-shell after the first one's demise with a motorway lampost! 187bhp 4AGZE in mid drift at Rivage, Spa 2003

And the last one which I restored and still remains the only car that cost me no more than I put into it. Note it's a 1986 car that I did like a 1985 MK1a with the contrasting black bumpers. This was 2004 IIRC
