GR Yaris 3rd brake light (HLBL) relocation

Looking at the cars roofline, it was meant to have a wing. I know it’s subjective but it just looks right. I’m afraid I can’t answer the technical aspect of your question mate but I can tell you the angle of the wing is adjustable (3 ways?). It will absolutely generate downforce, how much at...

GR Yaris (Gen 2) Spoiler Kit Aero - assembly instructions

My brackets didn’t come with the nuts so it looks like you’re set! The ones you have look flanged which is great. The bracket mounting points on the new wing have a larger holes than the M6 studs on the brackets for precise adjustment. You got all of the screws too, enjoy fitting it this weekend...

GR Yaris (Gen 2) Spoiler Kit Aero - assembly instructions

With two of you, this will be quite easy - • Pop the trunk • Remove the 4 x rubber caps/grommets • Release the rectangular plastic plate that has the connector for the HLBL/3rd brake light. • 3 x nuts & 2 x bolts should now be exposed. One of the nuts is located in the recess behind the...

GR Yaris 3rd brake light (HLBL) relocation

This is my attempt to provide a guide to people who have changed/upgraded from their stock wing to one that doesn’t reuse the stock high level brake light (HLBL/3rd brake light). This is mainly for Type 20/MK1 GR Yaris owners. As you already know, the standard HLBL is mounted in the wing. I...

GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

@Armijs & @RallyRob Going through official channels is the issue regarding the cost. You need to find a company who imports straight from Japan. I think Garage Whifbitz might be worth a shot. They sell it as a kit with everything required.

GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

It was sufficient. No need for any other tape. It will become apparent when you are installing the wing. Just get the M6 nuts & washers and you’ll be fine 😊

GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

I just used the adhesive pads already attached to the brackets. The adhesive part of the brackets only serve the purpose of locating the brackets against the glass for when attaching the nuts. It act as a gasket between the steel & glass mainly. This is because there is inbuilt maneuverability...

GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

Thanks mate. They are Rallyflapz, not to difficult to fit other than getting the rear ones angled right. The quality isn’t too bad. @Sticky does the graphics https://www.chevronsdirect.co.uk/collections/toyota-gr-yaris

GR Yaris Wheel Weight and it's Impacts

Stubbornly, I’m still sticking with my original statement 😊. It was an interesting video which is worth watching for sure. Going from >20kg 20” OEM Audi wheels on my B8.5 S4 to <10kg 18” Enkei RPF1’s, the difference is night & day. The directional feedback/control, weight of steering, longevity...

GR Yaris Wheel Weight and it's Impacts

Without watching it, abso-bloody-lutely! The unsprung weight kills suspension components & the rotational mass destroys performance.

GR Yaris (Gen 2) mk2 Aero package part numbers

The nut for the brackets? I’d just give it a nip as far as you dare to! I’m inclined to think, a plain nut tightened less than 20NM with a small dribble of thread lock. As long as it doesn’t work loose, I don’t think it’s a torque to yield item mate. Any luck ordering some of these elusive...

GR Yaris (Gen 2) mk2 Aero package part numbers

You can see the adhesive a bit better from this angle. The nuts required for the threaded stud on the brackets are M6, I will probably use a nut that will lock/secure to prevent it from potentially loosening etc

GR Yaris (Gen 2) mk2 Aero package part numbers

Yes, the brackets already have adhesive applied. There are protective tabs that you peel off when you’ve lined them up. The Gen1 (Type20) wing has a high level brake light. The cable passes through a grommet/seal into outer skin of the tailgate I think? I’m not entirely sure but it looks like...
