GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris TE37 Fitment Advice: 18×8.5J vs 18×9.5J for 245/255 Tyres

Hi guys,

I’m planning to install RAYS Volk Racing TE37 wheels on my GR Yaris and I’m a bit confused between 18×8.5J and 18×9.5J.

My main goal is to run wider tyres and get as much grip as possible.

I’m currently considering:

• 18×8.5J with 245 tyres
• 18×9.5J with 255 tyres

Which setup would you recommend for the best overall grip and fitment?

I’d also appreciate any advice on the ideal offset for each setup and whether there are any rubbing or clearance issues with 255 tyres.

I run 18x9.5 similar style wheels.(deep dish) ET42. 255/35/18 tyres. Lowered - 25mm on eibach springs. On road and track. Absolutely no rubbing issues in 3 years.

i was thinking the 18x9.5j 45 with the 255/35/18

what about installing 265/35/18 michelin cup 2

I wouldn't do 265 35. As the sidewall will be taller than a 255/35.As it's 35% of 265 rather than 255. And cup 2 have quite square high side walls. Et45 should be fine tho. To add... You might get away with 265 on the rear... But could rub the strut or arch on the front when on full lock.

For me the sweet spot is 18 x 8.5J ET40-45 with 235/40/18 tyres. More than enough grip with semi-slicks like Cup2 or A052, AD09 etc.

Com base na sua experiência, qual offset você recomendaria para o meu GR Yaris Gen 2 com rodas 18x9.5 e pneus 255/35R18: ET38 ou ET45?

Estou com dificuldade para decidir entre os dois. Acho que o ET38 ficaria melhor e daria ao carro uma aparência mais agressiva , mas me preocupa que as rodas possam ficar para fora dos para-lamas.

Por outro lado, acredito que o ET45 possa oferecer melhor sensação de direção e manuseio , mas estou preocupado com problemas de folga com a suspensão, já que pretendo instalar amortecedores HKS Hipermax S com um rebaixamento de 20 a 30 mm .

Eu realmente preferiria evitar o uso de espaçadores.

Considerando sua experiência com ET42, qual desses dois offsets você escolheria?
