GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

Not today but recently.
Painted my carbon bonnet black, well I didn't.

Because. I mean WTF.

I had a proper look inside the arches for the first time since last summer. The arches have been battered since I last checked... It seems quite easy to miss this. Probably a combination of thin paint and crumbling roads but I can foresee a lot of these rusting out at the arches in classic JDM fashion View attachment 40954
That is why i PPF'd mine.

Summer wheels and tyres on at long last.

Always a pleasure to feel the crispness in the turn-in again 😍 and grip for daaaays

Checked the brake pads front and back while the wheels were off too, all good.

Attended the 1/4 race here in Germany - Berlin. Was quick enough with a 12,78s time and 175kmh trap (1,79s 60ft). I guess thats the limit on the current setup. Its still on stock height and stock BBS with Michelin PS4 225/40R18 tires. Mods are the usual Bolt ons (Intake, FMIC, Exhaust and around 50kg lighter) controlled by the DTUK V2.

Crunched some gears and upset the power steering. I think I'll have to just go ahead and order the cusco mounts as everytime downhill shifting has been the issue. I am surprised and a little disappointed about the power steering I'm only running 235s at 32psi hot didn't expect to run into this sort of issue but I guess it's why they changed the type 26 model.

Also I do see why they changed the steering wheel as I keep hitting the screen change button and it's a little distracting. However the new wheel seems more annoying to use from a daily perspective. Gonna have to sit in the new car and see if it's a worthwhile upgrade.

I've had the 3rd gear fighting me a couple of times on my gen 2, I've been looking at different options for the torque mount but it seems that going too hard generates a lot of harmonic vibrations inside, apparently a good middle ground is using inserts.

Took mine in for it's first service giving the Toyota dealership some Ravenol EHS 0w-20 to put in it.
Though they agreed to put it in there they were commenting that it was strange for someone to bring their own oil, and it had to be approved by the manager.
I did happen to see a demonstrator on site whilst there with a full list of options on board.

Yeah 3rd has been the issue for me too. My dealer said they did a few cusco mounts and guys came back in 24hrs asking them to swap it back to stock because it was unbearable.

Late night before round 3 of the NSW state motorkhana championship and I just finished setting the wheel alignment.
The GrY with aggressive toe settings is a wild beast.
Should be a good day tomorrow. 😁

The Motorkhana went well, I ended up 4th outright and 1st in class.
Here's a video of one of my runs:

More videos to come of myself and other competitors, so I'll start a dedicated thread over in Member's Cars.
My tyres were roasted with a couple chunks of tread missing by the end. The sign of a day well spent.

Great driving!

I've been running the Cusco mount for a while now. Compared to the Hardrace one I was running before it's borderline comfortable haha. The increase in NVH over stock is pretty massive though (specifically at idle, not at speed in the right rpm range - at 3k RPM on a highway it's basically the same as stock) and not for everyone. The difference in shift quality at speed is very noticeable though. It's a case of picking your poison I'd say...

it's strange for dealerships to become infamous for failing to use the right oil so, you know, swings and roundabouts.
