GR86 Oil Consumption and Pressure Issues?

Looking at some of those pics, with it on top of the engine cover and the front of the air box, it must he coming out with some force rather than a slight weep, otherwise it wouldn't be going upwards or bumper side of the air box.

Is the engine bay all clean now?

Mostly clean. I bought some all-purpose cleaner and will be going over the missed spots myself.

They also left my car parked under some trees for the weekend so just spent 15 minutes cleaning sap off it.

I've received an email confirming everything discussed with the master tech.

I gave the engine bay a bit more of a clean and have put 120 miles on since, mixed casual and hard driving. No signs of spatter.

Feeling a bit more relaxed now but will be monitoring closely going forward.

Threads like this make me wonder if maintaining the Toyota warranty is even worth the sky high servicing costs at this point. Best of luck, hope you get the issue resolved swiftly and painlessly.

I dont think it is. Ive had mine at Abbey Motorsport since it was registered and not let it near a Toyota dealer.

f**k the 10 year warranty, its not worth the risk of letting a dealership near it.

Also OP, fwiw, after 3 years and 8000 miles mine hasn't burnt any oil, I keep an eye on it say every 500 miles or so.

Update: since swapping the PCV valve myself (the old one was definitely shot) and getting the car back I've put on a few hundred miles, mix of casual and spirited driving, I haven't lost a drop of oil, nor noticed any spatter in the engine bay.

It may be placebo but I could swear that the engine is idling more smoothly now.

The only thing I can think caused previous spatter was oil mist from testing the oil filler pressure settling and causing a visible contrast after the fact. Did not notice any visible spatter when checking, only after driving afterwards.

Fingers crossed this is the end of my consumption issues but will be keeping a close eye on things.

Almost a month later with plenty of hard driving. Checked the oil a few times and it hasn't moved at all.

Tested the oil fill opening when idling again and the amount of perceived blowby is drastically reduced. It was blowing quite violently before, and was behaving the same just after swapping the valve out which had me concerned about internal wear. Now it is a very gentle pulse which barely moves a few sheets of paper. Before it was blowing up a thick piece of cardboard and left a pronounced ring of oil on its underside.

Think I can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Mad how a PCV valve can trigger so many symptoms.

I still need to get around to changing mine but I've just had the garage re-rendered so the car was under covers. I'll try and do it one evening this week. Bought the tools to try it.

And I still haven't had a call back from Toyota for them to look at it and the camera. Yet they can send me an email saying they want to buy my car.

Without saying names I believe your local dealer is the same franchisee as mine. I have had similar experiences.

Another update.

Fensport offered to review video of the blowby previously while I was still resolving my issues.

They've just confirmed that the current observed behavior is perfectly normal.

Stuck getting the hose off. Top one came off OK but the one on the valve is really stuck on. Tried pulling it from a few angles but isn't budging and cut my hands to bits on the cable ties. Did try running the car for a bit to warm it a bit but still nothing. Did open the oil cap to see how much air comes back and it seems quite a bit

I REALLY had to pull. Not as much as people made out online but I pulled being prepared to rip it. I had to pull a few times and just as I was thinking of giving up I felt it starting to give. I left the car idling after driving a bit for about 15 minutes.

Both hands, leaning into the engine bay and pulling straight up is how I approached it.

Trust me got the really pull , i am fairly strong person, my Technics was micro pulls several of them at max strength then rest a few second then big big big pull .

Ok. I'll take it for a longer spin next time it's dry to really warm it through and try again. I'll need to get PTFE tape or some liquid PTFE as I've misplaced the some I had.
