I'm having a wobble.... Got fed up of the lack of updates and started perusing Autotrader the other night. Found a couple of nice looking F-Types and now I can't get them out of my head. If they were more local I would definitely be going to take a look.....
So... Toyota GB call me at 10:49 and advise me of an EDD of 2023.
Then... My nominated dealer calls me at 13:52 to advise me that the car has appeared on their system (Compass I think he called it) with an EDD of 12/09/22....
Just had my call from TGB.
10:13 order and I've been told ETA 2023.... To be honest I'm a bit miffed because they are supposedly allocating cars in order of confirmation time. Well there are at least 2 orders that were confirmed after mine that have an ETA of August and September.....
I'm not sure what impact the national holiday in Japan will have had on order processing. They had a shutdown from 29th of April until 8th of May with rumours of an extended shutdown due to supply chain issues. I guess the UK end can't do a lot if there is no processing going on at the other...
I still haven't had the phonecall but I'm assuming I've got a car because:
1. I have an ORCA number.
2. The My T App updated on my phone saying my order is being processed and I will be notified when they start building the car.
3. The Toyota Customer Portal states the order has been processed...
It's a national holiday in Japan until the 8th of May. And there is talk of an extended shutdown due to the global chip shortage.
Even if you have an ORCA number (which I believe should guarantee you a car) and get a phone call, the car still won't be going into production just yet.
I once ordered a new Alfa 159 and the communication was so poor, weeks later I had know idea where the car was, if it had been built or when I was going to get it. In the end I cancelled my order because I had sold my old car and needed transport....
I've had no phone call but the car is on the My T app and the Toyota website says 'Congratulations, the order for your new car has been processed and the factory has received the details.'
Organised chaos....
