GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Just saw these 2 in Toyota Reading. Are their owners here?

hello everyone, I'm writing from Italy, and I ordered the gr86 in June 2022... in June 2023, Toyota confirmed my order and the car probably arrived in Italy in the first days of August

I called the dealer and also Toyota but the car appears to still be stopped at the port of Livorno.

Is anyone else in this situation? It's probably just an Italian delay..
 
I was fortunate the lad at Steven Eagell Letchworth I dealt with (Krish) is a proper petrolhead, and was sympathetic to my OCD! He arranged to store the GR’s he had away from everything else, including trees.

Also, as further evidence of my weirdness…I‘d quite like to save that green Avensis next to the blue GR86!

My thoughts exactly.

Made me laugh when I turned up to the dealer to collect my car, their showroom had 5 cars in it, on highly polished floors, sexy lighting and were immaculate, all spaced 20 ft apart. Yet outside it was absolute carnage, like loose cattle, you couldn't go through their main door as there were cars in the way, I had to park 300ft away then zig zag between cars to get in the place, bumper to bumper.

It's as if you are supposed to close your eyes before you get in and pretend it's all posh and and special.

Seems to be common that car dealerships have an inadequate amount of space for the number of vehicles they’re attempting to squeeze into them. I think most manufacturers hold them to standards relating to the building and layout of the showroom but then think nothing of the shitshow that is the carpark/site in general 😅

That said there are multiple opportunities for the cars to get damaged on their journey from the factory. A fair few incidents seem to be a result of the transporter driver responsible for the final leg of the journey. Any car that is lower, wider, more awkward to get in and out or or harder to see out of and the odds increase. A wheel getting clobbered, bumper scraped or a splitter torn off being the most common outcome. Thankfully the GR was fine albeit utterly filthy but I suffered a new car in the past needing the bumper repainting due to delivery damage.

Just had notification that mine has arrived there as well. Not has pick up date yet, but when I initially called in to see the car before ordering (luckily they had one in that day!) and then had the test drive they were very friendly and helpful

Yeah they were great with me when I test drove one there - hopefully it will be a good experience!

Hi picked mine up in Grey yesterday from Jemca Bracknell , while filing up at the petrol station 350 yards from the dealer just 3mins after collection a women in 4x4 reversed into front end !Gutted - damage is to bumper but expect will take some time for replacement. Anyone have any experience of spares yet ?

😮 Mate I cannot imagine how flipping p'd off you must have been. Still, look on the bright side, you ripped that "first ding" plaster off on day one. Now you can see really enjoy the car 👍

WTF? I've not seen anyone drive into my parked car in 35 years, yet you get it in 3 minutes - that's not fair.

That is an absolute sh*tter. Gutted for you.

I know some of our fellow owners have had some experience with spares/parts, so hopefully they will be along to give some input.

Perhaps the availability and waiting times for parts has improved/is improving, now that the car has been out a while and there's more of them.

Gutting :( I was without my car for 2.5 months when someone backed into it in my Toyota dealership's carpark and it needed a new wing and paint. To be fair that also included a couple of extra weeks for rectification works, but I think it still took them a month to source a brand new wing.

Can you still drive the car in the meantime though?

That's awful, hope it gets sorted quick.

Bet she had a reversing camera but didn't look at it!
