GR86 Grey ‘86 in South Wales

I was debating leaving a note on their car to the effect of “contact me on this number, dent wasn’t there prior to you arriving and car hasn’t moved etc etc” but honestly after dwelling on it overnight I can’t be bothered.

I’m sure there will be more and it’s just a fact of life at this point that people really don’t care, so I’ll get all of them done in one go every 12 months or something.

As sh*t as it is, for many a car is a tool, it's a mode of transport, whilst these people aren't out to cause misery, they simply do not think about it, doesn't make it right
This is undoubtedly the case, but surely even the most stupid, self-centred imbecile realises that walloping a door into another vehicle isn't on?

Obviously accidents can happen (gust of wind when you open a door for example), but it's not hard to be a little careful.

And whilst I'm in middle aged grumpy mode - f**k Airbnb. Pricing local people out of buying/renting and a never-ending steam of unvetted people, some of whom will be myopic door-dinking arseholes.

Living next to an airbnb has its downsides, one of which being the people that park next to you don’t give a single f**k.

Lovely pair of dents in the rear quarter from the car door next to it being opened into it. No camera or anything so no proof, but the mark on their rear door edge says it all (picture 2).
I feel for you. This type of behaviour makes me really nervous about leaving mine in a public place.

Well, it gets better… come out to my car today and find it like this. Same people as before and it’s basically in the exact same spot, except now they’ve gone through the paint.

I’ve blocked the space now and hoping they come ask me to move my car so I can actually speak to them.

Shocking behaviour, I’m gutted for you seeing that.

I’ve even spoken to them but of course they’re saying it couldn’t have been them. No other car has parked next to me since Sunday…

Got all his details but I feel like my insurance are just gonna laugh at me without video evidence.

That must have had a real wallop to do that. No excuse at all.

Can you bluff the c**t and say you've got camera footage (yours or a neighbours)?

f***ing boils my piss this kind of thing. Absolute scum. I would be tempted to key every panel of theirs.
It is mightily tempting; but inadvisable, unfortunately.

But apparently where our comrade lives is a real hotspot for all four tyres being let down with no permanent damage caused...

Honestly, I’ve kind of accepted the fact that there’s naff all I can do about it other than get it repaired and get a street permit so I don’t have to park next to Airbnb cretins anymore, along with installing my dash cam finally.

On a brighter note, my Remark Axle back turned up today, so need to get somewhere booked in for installation asap!

Insurance have been contacted and as luck would have it, they’re insured with the same company. Hopefully find out soon whether they dispute it or not. Call handler said my evidence was spot on and they’d have to come up with their own to refute it entirely.
Fingers crossed for a good outcome for you.

I really feel for you, thats just unacceptable on every level when they know that they did it..there is a word I would like to use that starts in C and end ends in T and its not Cat.
I bought a year old Aygo for the wife a week before I got my 86 and thats encountered 2 heavy dings already...I take that shopping and not my 86.
I guess theres not many people that actually own their cars any more and as such dont give a feck.
Hope the insurance sorts it for you.

I feel your pain & I admire your self control don't think I could do the same if it happened to mine, as it is I'm very nervous about leaving it anywhere, but I have bad luck in this area!
Couple of years ago had a brand new car dinked in the first 24 hours, went one better last week picked up a new Yaris Hybrid lease car through work drove it 10 miles to another site, came back to it an hour later nice dent in the front wing, honestly you couldn't make it up, I was just so glad it wasn't the GR!

Insurance already called me back just now (benefits of both parties being with the same company) and other party is being held 100% liable. Car is being fixed at absolutely no cost to me at some point in the next 4 weeks.

Hope the sod thinks again before thinking he can treat other people's possessions without any care.

Great news, great outcome!

Really pleased you got closure ☺️

Only at 2k and 4k I've found. It does quieten down a bit but cold start will always be loud. But I've had way louder in the past so I don't mind it. It's quieter than many full systems on a GT86
