GR86 Test drives - Demonstrator registration numbers

It's just a phone cam shot but the iPhone 8 plus has a good camera and there was good light so it just "popped" in that shot (y) Looks very 3 dimensional with the way it picks up the light.

I don't regret going for the bright blue (even though it'll be common as muck*) - proper sports car colour (somewhat influenced by my love of Porsche shark blue)

* relatively speaking

Stopped by to see the demo car at Bournemouth Hendy Toyota on Saturday, the white does look nice.... Test drive next Saturday at 1pm, can't wait.

Just seen the car @ Hendy Bournemouth. Car looks gorgeous even on dull day. Sat in and started her. She feels good to sit in. I am 6’1 and fitted nicely. Salesman was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He said, him and another colleague of his missed out on one. First thing he asked me was “ would you like to sell it” . He thinks going rate is 4k over sticker price. I left dealership feeling warm and fuzzy inside 😜

Phoned Toyota GB today to ask what's going on with part ex so sent me the link to do the photos, etc. That was a faff in itself but done now. Also asked why my dealer hadn't had demo yet. He confirmed all should have by now so something must be up.

Was it an accompanied drive? How long did they give you?
Unaccompanied (except the dashcam) for about 45 minutes. They were helpful and easy to deal with at the dealer.
There was heavy traffic as always around there and I struggled to find roads where I could appreciate the car properly, but I am sure it will grow on me like the GT86 has. The ETA is 9-Dec for mine, in theory.

Ahh jealous, the only salesman when I got there was a newbie and wouldn't let me sit in it, it's okay only a few days now 🤞

I don’t know if it will make for good reading. Haha

Having driven both I think it’s a completely unfair comparison.

I might put a light hearted ‘fox esq’ review together later
Don't forget to include your toilet thoughts young Padawan.

And I'm very interested in the Supra vs. GR86 comparison: Buyer's remorse, or confirmation bias? ;)

Had a test drive booked for today. GR centre said they would deliver car to the smaller branch where I’m collecting mine all confirmed on phone. Turned up today no car! Demo hadn’t been transferred to the satellite dealer !! Earliest now next week.

Sound’s like the test drive confirmed you’ll be keeping the Supra.

Would still be interested though, just have to bear in mind there is a £20k difference in RRP

Before the GR86 was released JRT let me try their Supra 3.0 demo car as I wanted to see if that would suit me. Having driven the GR86, yes it’s a lot less plush than the Supra but you can feel it weighs a lot less , ride is about the same , down on power but but what you have feels more usable for more of the time. I’d say the GT86 feels more sports car and the Supra more GT tourer. I won’t mention transmission for fear of upsetting anyone😂

I’d be interested in @LU71KEE view having driven the 86 and owning the Supra. 🤔

Great photos Luke. Gives a good perception on the colour, there are really no undertones or hues of anything else, it's the reddest red that was ever red.

Well that was good. It's a lot better than I remember my GT86 being (but that was a '12' plate). Can't wait for mine now, although it look like it'll be mid-February now

Took this one out today, salesman kindly gave me the key and said return it before we close. You could tell within a few hundred yards it’s a fantastic bit of kit - I’ve seen a review refer to it as feeling like a (grown up) Caterham and that’s strangely what popped into my head after the first roundabout.

Very good fun all round - great steering, decent driving position (with non-offset pedals) and a pretty tractable engine with just about enough poke to keep me happy (it had only done 15 miles tho’).

Only real negative for me would be that the ride is very firm, unnecessarily so IMO - I think that they should have put more compliance in there! Might try it on (non black) 17” down the line, perhaps with a supercharger 😉👊
